I know you're not thinking that.
Of course, I'm not thinking that.
I wasn't asking for Superman to be one sided either, but I was expecting a back and forth balance between them.
Why? These men are inherently imbalanced in terms of strength, which makes the man with the most power the one who is obligated to hold back for the sake of maintaining the moral high ground. Superman doesn't want Batman to believe he's there to fight. Superman wants Batman to know he's sorry, he knows Lex manipulated him, and he needs his help. If Superman fights in any way that communicates equal engagement, then he's actively undermining his position. Superman only fights back on something close to equal footing when he is weakened and his life (along with his mother's life) is at risk.
Superman fans are very passionate about Superman. He's the most iconic character we have.
Then be passionate about Superman for god's sake! Superman doesn't care about who is strongest and who wins in a fight orchestrated by a madman. He cares about preserving life and protecting innocents.
