Is the hate on Barry Bonds racially motivated?

It seems a lot of people are coming out of the woodwork saying that all this hate on Barry Bonds is racial. That it wouldnt happen if it was a white guy. You guys agree or do you think the hate on him is that hes just an arrogant jerk?

I think for some of the haters, it might be at least somewhat racially motivated. I just think he's an ass, regardless of what color his skin is.

There's always the fact that there's evidence of steroid abuse, and the fact that he's close to breaking records and he could be doing it illegaly.

I don't think it is the initial motivation or main motivation of a lot of people, but I think the fact that he is black does contribute to it. These rumors of steroids have been around for years and when McGwire was going for th e single season record nobody said a word about his bulking up or the rumors of him using other substances. But now with Barry everyone is upset. Hmmmm...double standard?

And for the record I will reiterate that I believe all these records should be upheld and blame does not lie solely with the players and should mainly be shouldered by Major League Baseball for creating the loopholes that allowed this kind of behavior to go on.

It's hard to say without reading peoples mind but I can imagine Mark Mcgwire(sp?) having alot more support.

Racism is real. Just look at the different reactions to the Rodney King beating and the O.J. verdict from white and black communities.

Well with mark, he was always a pretty nice guy, does interviews signs peoples stuff. Bonds refused to sign homerun ball 713 to a soldier on leave from Iraq.

And Giambi doesnt get the hate because he admitted it, took his punishment and threw himself in front of the court of public opinion.

I would say yes and no.He`s not the first African to break Babe Ruth`s record,but most are angry that he used drugs to enhance his performence.Its not fair,to many,myself included...even if he does "break" the record,it wont mean a thing.He cheated,lets ignore it.

So it's racism 100% of the time, in every single circumstance and not because someone can't accept the truth that maybe it's not racially motivated.

Guy gets turned down by job. It's not that I'm unqualified, it's cause I'm Black. While this does happen, it's not all the time.

In this instance, I believe most people dislike Bonds because he's an a'hole, and has the smell of steroids around him.

And I have experienced racism in my life.
