Is the over reliance on humour a problem in the MCU

Idk why people keep saying IM3 isnt hated. It seems like a weird point to bring up in this thread since I dont think anyone brought up Iron Man 3 being hated by the masses

We're not talking at all about whether or not Iron Man 3 was hated, we're saying it was the 2nd most well-received Iron Man film well below the 1st but above the 2nd as far as the general reception goes, (critics, audiences, etc). As far as why we're discussing this, it's in response to Doc Ock's observation that Iron Man 3 wasn't as well-received as Iron Man 2.

Then, as I was making the earlier post, it occured to me that the MCU has had 2 trilogies so far (Cap and Iron Man), in which the 3rd film was received better than or at least as well as the 2nd film which is an extremely rare occurence so I thought it was worth mentioning. :)

Then why are peple saying "Dont let the internet fool you" I dont think anyone is saying that IM3 is hated and Doc Ock was going off a poll he claims he saw

Flint Marko was responding to my post which was in turn a response to Doc Ock who was talking about whether or not IM3 was less well-liked than IM2, as opposed to talking about whether it was hated.

IM3 is a Shane Black movie. I expected subversions of expectations in that film. I think it's underrated. The film is actually smarter and well written than people give it credit for.

In terms of plot. I think Killians whole plan was plain brilliant and great social commentary. That's just me though. And yes I know, I'm in the minority. I love IM3. It's not a perfect film but I do feel like is hate is way overblown. I believe it's genuinely a good film. Though the 3rd act needed to be polished a bit. It was basically a video game.
^^^I second all this
I think humour suit Ant-Man. He light character.
Yeah, just look at Scott's comics, lots of humor should be expected from Ant-Man. Now, how they treated Hank Pym is a whole different problem...
Studio did mess with Age of Ultron but I don't think they make Ultron way he was.

Yeah, I think a lot of the problems with AOU were Whedon's fault, not the studio. Ultron was a mess that seemed straight from Whedon, while the most glaring issue is him insisting on killing Pietro against the studio's wishes, resulting in the death in the final film being completely brushed over.

I agree, I mean compare the serious tone of these (wonderfully put together) trailers:

To the actual movie. Hell, even the announcement teaser was darker-themed:

Why wasn't Ultron anything like the way he was portrayed in these trailers? Ugh.. Why, Whedon?!

I really wish we could have had the film that was shown in the trailers :csad:.

Marvel mis-sold high Iron Man 3 and Avengers Age if Ultron in the trailers, portrayed them as more serious in tone than they were. The films themselves ended up been joke filled messes.

Iron Man 3 was totally intentional in its misleading and for AoU the Mjolnir scene was marketed since the beginning, plus those movies totally fit with their directors' styles..then again BvS trailer was filled with bad jokes and SS heavily featured Joker and lots of deleted scenes but those are not problems right?

Well they failed in that respect cause what we got was awful with IM3. As for AOU the trailer showed a serious film with a solid villain, instead we got a villain who was an evil robot version of Tony Stark cracking jokes and been really inept plus a film that was a mess.

Showing deleted scenes has been done for years, SS won't be the last film to do it. I didn't see any bad jokes in the BvS trailers either. Of course you're offended by my opinion so attack DC. Yawn!

Not offended, just pointing out that misleads always happen. And objectively AoU wasn'even half the mess of some CBMs that came out this year,it's an actual good movie like IM3.

Not sure what those films have to do with the subject at hand, but okay? I don't remember any bad jokes in any BvS trailers

Not in my opinion they weren't, Marvel's worst along with The Dark World and Iron Man 2.

The trailer with Doomsday reveal was quite humorous. The subjects is misleading trailers,I just pointed out that it happens a lot.

There weren't any, but you're right nothing to do with the subject at hand.

I get the feeling if I mentioned MCU in a DC thread I'd be getting **** for it.

Is she with you? I thought she was with you"was suppose to be a moment of levity but failed even in the context of the film for obvious reasons. Funny enough Trailer 2 with DD for BvS was the one I was like oh uh. We're in for a mess.

Oh please no one is attacking you here. Yeesh.

Did I bash DC movies in my post without reason? I'm talking about trailers.

Yeah, but we're talking about AOU & IM3 having misleading trailers not DC films. And to be fair, I don't really remember any jokes in the Doomsday trailer besides "Is She With You?" (which I thought was quite funny) The Batman v Superman trailers were upfront with the tone & feel of the movie, same with SS (with the exception of the Comic Con trailer-- which I feel was the original vision of the movie anyhow)

It's an MCU thread

So What? One can make comparisons without completely bashing one side. Look I know you have a bias and came here just to say negative stuff about the MCU but don't talk like every response is a personal attack to you.

:lmao:

Ok mate, yeah whatever, never even said it was a personal attack. It was clearly a DC bashing post whatever you say.

Point me where I bashed DC. I was talking about trailers neither WB nor DC edited so where's the bashing? It's up to the trailer companies how a trailer is edited based on the footage they have, misleading is not studio's fault.

I was talking about the tone of the MCU trailers the but you started bashing BvS for bad jokes (even though there went any in the trailers) which fair enough could be comparative but then the deleted scenes from SS. You didn't like that I was taking on those MCU films so you brought DC into it. You're not the first or the last to do so, it's just the way the haters are.

And as usual the haters have their backup crew

I'm not a hater,if I'm one then most of the Hype would be regarding those movies, even lifelong DC fans but yeah whatever.
