You might be right. It didn't seem like he helped that much. If that was the case, he should have stayed out of it and let them hire someone who wanted to get their hands dirty.
It wasn't his obligation. He served as a story consultant and that's exactly what he did. If there are faults, it should be directed at Snyder and Goyer.

I still lament on the potential of Nolan's original choice in Aronofsky. The sad irony in him not getting the job (too slow to develop) was offset by MOS getting delayed by 6 months anyway. I wonder if that would have made any difference for WB.

I don't really blame Nolan for the faults. I just wish he would have been more involved. They hyped up his presence to sell the movie, but it doesn't seem like he did that much. I wish there had been someone hired to help Goyer more and it would be their obligation because they were hired for that purpose, rather then just having Nolan do a minimal job.

Some people kept insisting on Nolan's presence not being anywhere near the amount some had been suggesting.

It seems to me that he had a significant role in picking Snyder for the job, but his role was less for the making of the movie with just minimal consulting like Jekecy said. Of course, I don't know everything for sure since I wasn't there.

Well based on credits alone, Nolan was only responsible for creative a narrative with Goyer (as well as selling the idea to WB HQ). So it really feels like Nolan wasn't responsible for this as much as the Batman films.

Not only did Nolan secret write and direct the movie but he played all the roles

Was anyone suggesting that he did? I certainly wasn't. My point was that he didn't seem to do that much.

Good news but it's still David Goyers screenplay.

The new film is currently being written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer.

Batman Begins was also Goyer's screenplay, and it was solid.

It sure would be great to hear from Terrio on this.

Sure after Nolan basically re-wrote it.
About 85% of the final script remained exactly as Goyer's first draft. What saved Batman Begins was the cast and Nolan's direction. Snyder evidently isn't as talented in bringing the script to life on the screen.

^ This! Though BB had a much stronger script. It would have been a pretty good movie even if Nolan DIDN'T direct it (the old screenplay is leaked on the net).
