Comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Part 2

I disagree. I think the show was on fire this season. That said, with Charlie Day branching into movies, Howerton and Olsen doing other projects, it does seem McElhenny is the only one who is still all in on this. And that is understandable. He is the creator. This show is his baby more than anyone else's. But the cast does seem a bit itchy to branch out. And I think that is where the other (under-reported) part of Howerton's interview comes in. The show is taking an extended hiatus. My guess is it will be back in Spring or Summer of 2018. Maybe even as late as Fall 2018 or, adopting the Fargo schedule and taking two years off, returning in Winter 2019. I think this is in part a chance to let the cast stretch their legs a little bit, recharge their creative batteries and then come back strong.

Personally, I think the show should do three more seasons. 13, 14, and 15. That will cement its place as the longest live-action comedy in television history. Not a bad accomplishment for a show that started off as an obscure cult hit that barely avoided cancellation after its first season.

I never said it wasn't. With the exception of maybe one or two mediocre episodes, this was a very good season.

If Glenn is truly leaving they should just end the show if their contract with FX allows it. One more season, wrap everything up.

As for the current season, it was pretty good. The show peaked years ago and I don't agree with the "it's still getting better" sentiment. I would say the last consistent season was season 9.

With the possible exception of Frank- because how?- this season really pushed the characters forward from a development standpoint, and I never thought I'd say that about Always Sunny. It would be an interesting dynamic or change of pace if Dennis really does decide to leave for good and do some semblance of growing up.

Like Mac coming out- even if it's still funny to talk about- Dee going to a dark place when she pranked that male stripper, or Charlie somewhat considering wanting to have a baby with the waitress- even if he has no idea what he's doing- the characters developed beyond their usual antics. I wager Dennis will still be around, but the fact that he's even considering it changes the dynamic and does feel similar to when Michael left The Office and came back only for the series finale.

Side-note, there's something oddly humorous about ending the season on a shot of a station wagon on fire.

Station wagon!?!? How dare you compare Dennis's glorious Range Rover, an amphibious all-terrain vehicle to a mere station wagon!?

Also, Lebowski reference when The Waitress was improving chances of conception?

Can any of you gif wizards combine this gif for me in 2 ways. One where their stacked on top of one another and then another where it's just one gif?

Damn. This is even worse than the longer hiatus they took between seasons 9 and 10.

Howerton's show has been picked up. And I believe there was a story last week that Danny DeVito is doing a new show with Jeff Goldblum on Amazon.

So at least they're making the most of this hiatus.

Dannys also doing some broadway, Rob is directing Minecraft... they'll come back strong.

I wonder if the remaining two seasons that have been ordered will be it, or if FX will basically let the show go on essentially forever, as long as Rob, Charlie, and Glenn want to do it, like HBO does with Larry David.

On this day in 2005 our sweet baby was born. Sunny, you're more disturbing in your adolescence than in your infancy. You make Daddy proud.

All seasons are leaving Netflix. 12/9

Netflix keeps trying me...

And this is why I still buy DVDs.

I do still buy Blu Rays for movies (DVDs what is this 2003? :ninja:) but TV shows especially ones that have been going on for a while are a bit pricier to catch up

Besides a few shows like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead which I do buy on Blu-ray, I only buy DVDs for certain TV shows. Sunny doesn't have Blu-rays anymore, and the last season was released on DVD as an Amazon exclusive, so they're on their way out anyway.

AP Bio really sucks. At least The Mick is generally funny. Season 1 was insanely fantastic. Season 2 dropped a tad, but still pretty good for network tv.

I can't wait until Sunny returns. I get that the actors might be a little bored, but they have the fanbase devoted to them. Hopefully the season debuts in January.

Greens actually works with FXX and all.. he knows the schedule, I believe he said May.
