They also did Davey Jones in POTC. With characters like Yoda, Gollum, King Kong, Caesar etc. etc. I think a CGI thing could definitely be done and look amazing in the right hands.

No doubt - IF Fox is willing to spend the money and time. AVATAR shows that most anything CAN be done, but that cost $400 million - Fox is not going to spend that kind of money on the FF.

While I'm sure they won't spend that much, I certainly hope they intend to spend enough to make it a top-notch production. I don't see any point in making another mediocre film. If they really plan to kill the franchise with another lack-luster effort, they should have just let Marvel have it, and everybody would have been better off.

For all us FF fans, I hope Fox feels the same way, but I think they would rather "kill" it than let it go back to Marvel and have them turn it into the hit that we all know it can be.

:lmao:

You've got me beat by a few years. Not many, but a few. And happy belated birthday!
lol Yeah thanks. My daughter was even late sending a B-Day gift she made for me, Thor Movie pillow cases! lol She made me a Classic Marvel Comics characters blanket for Xmas lol

If Caesar can look completely real along with the other apes in Rise, then a fully CGI Thing can be done and for not a huge budget. I think a CGI Thing is needed personally.

If not, get a big guy and do a better suit this time, Adam Baldwin is my pick.

But he did not look "completely real" - it was not bad, but not totally real...

Brian Steel, the guy who was in the Wink suit in HB2 is pretty tall - much taller than the Thing is suppose to be [remember he's shorter than Reed] but since some of you want him taller for some reason, then Brian would be a good choice. He's had lots of suit and prosthetic experience...

Here's an interesting article that may give some insight into the Thing CGI:

Trank touted how his special effects team will be able to tap cloud-rendering technology from Otoy to create the movie at a much lower cost.

...

The tiger in the Oscar-winning Life of Pi is in the movie for 80 percent of the movie, but it was rarely filmed. The tiger (pictured top) was mostly made with computer animations by a group called Rhythm and Hues. The tiger has 10 million hairs, all rendered, and it took several hundred million hours of CPU time to create.

You can't have a Boston Southie like Wahlberg play the quintessentially Brooklyn Ben Grimm. :o

Interesting. The Thing will be doing much more intensive sequences than that Tiger though. This is an action movie after all.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan would make an awesome Ben Grimm. Had thoughts as to whether even George Clooney could handle such a role but that would certainly blow the budget of the movie.

Whoever suggested Adam Baldwin earlier in this thread gets a high five from me. That's your guy.

Baldwin would be great, but I fear he's too old now. A Baldwin type for sure. He's kinda Reed's bodyguard so it fits. Still I think a younger man is more what this part needs. Baldwin circa PREDATOR 2 would have been pretty spot on, cept for the New Yawker accent.

I so wish this was for Ben Grimm.....

Although plans are nascent to say the least, Vin Diesel revealed today through his official Facebook page that Marvel Studios has just reached out to him, likely for a role in an upcoming big screen project.

"Marvel has requested a meeting," he writes. "No idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me..."

I still like josh Hartnett a lot and he was badass in 30 Days of Night.
