Superman Returns It's either the smartest or dumbest decision in movie remake history

How many of these confused icons have we got in here?

So now that we're back to the confused emoticon, why do I suddenly feel the background theme for "The Lion King" keying in now. The circle of life, it's the wheel......

Man, knowing even 5 words to any Elton John song is simply embarrassing.

Props to Bryan Singer, he is either a genius or an idiot for doing all of this.
I'd say he's an idiot.

I think this thread was on it's way to Amtrak-ville in the first post!

This thread needs a going out of business sale.

this is nowhere near a remake, considering how it continues on from where Superman I and a little bit of Superman II left off, and doesn't retell any of those stories.

congrats on the thread, guy.

This thread is an invatation of bad mojo, as bad as a couple found bottles of viagra and KY Jelly in an old age home. People are getting hyped up, and someone gonna get hurt, and it aint gonna be pretty when it's wiped up.

That's what I don't get. How can it take a little from Superman2?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Vague History, where nothing is what it seems.

For the people who already saw this movie or are spoiler savvy:

Can this film stand by itself without Superman 1 and 2???

Like Batman Begins, it did not need Tim Burton's Batman.

Will this Superman do the same??

Hopefully the flashbacks could make this a Stand Alone Movie.

Coz if this is Superman "3" then then IT WILL NOT WORK!!

You can't make this a trilogy if the first 2 films are outdated (They are classics though) but compare to this one is like making the 1978 Superman be a "continuation" of the George Reeves Superman.

It just wont work!!!

:supes:

i got one simple question for all these people concerned about this continuity issue...

How do you watch James Bond films?

To use the same John Williams theme, Marlon Brandon cameos, to continue from the original movies storyline and background tidbits, to make a Clark Kent that is fairly faithful to the Christopher Reeve version of Clark Kent.....

Since it's not a remake, the question is invalid. It's a sequel, they always use the same music and flashbacks from the previous movies for sequels.

This movie will have no middle ground, it will either be great or horrible.

EACH James Bond Films could stand on it's own unlike Trilogy movies like Star Wars, LOTR, and etc...

Hopefully this movie could stand on it's own also

I'm willing to accept this movie for what it is, however, I would have preferred a remake with a more modern Superman, rather than the Silver Age Superman portrayed in the Donner films.
