The batteries were dead, but I just replaced them and it worked fine. I dunno, my Yellow booted up fine, even browsed the my full Pokedex and all. My Gold and Silver didn't have any data, though.

I had my Pokemon Yellow & it worked perfectly fine & everything. I ended up selling it on EBAY a few months ago.

Yellow didn't have an internal battery; only Gold and Silver did. A while back, I tried replacing my sliver battery and it still didn't work. :argh:

Internal battery? Like you mean one built into the cartridge? Mine didn't have that.

Yellow was a classic. I remember making Pikachu angry because I put him in one of the boxes. Ticked....off.....

Oh I posted a thread in the tv section (link below) that talks about our favorite memories from the original Pokémon tv series. Would love to know your favorite memories.

P.S. You can include the original games in there as well if you want.

I never really got into the anime. It wasn't bad, but I remember losing interest pretty quickly back then. Never did go back to it or try any of the later iterations. I took my nieces to see the first film, though, and it was alright.

I really never got into the card game, either. I stuck primarily with the games.

I was big into the cards and all the games, but I never watched too much of the TV show. Ash was always too big of a 'tard for me. His Pokemon related decisions were always just dumb and frustrated me as a wee child.

He's only gotten dumber. You do realize that at the end of each season, when he returns home to Kanto before setting off on his next adventure for the next series, they just replace that Ash with a brand new one, a clone maybe, who has a clean slate and is now absolutely a noob again...

Yeah, Gold and Silver had an internal battery that kept track of the in-game clock. When that battery dies, the game won't save anymore. It's apparently pretty easy to replace, but whenever I tried it my cartridge still wouldn't work.

They may have stopped doing it at some point during production, but as far as I know they all had it. The reason your Gold and Silver didn't have any data was probably because of a dead internal battery.

Ah, I see. I did not know that. That's a very odd design idea.

It's what they had to do at the time in order to have an in-game clock and use night and day features. Gen III didn't have any of that. Gen IV onward go by the time of the hardware clock.

Oh, did they start doing that in Gold and Silver? I was thinking that didn't come until Ruby and Sapphire. Makes sense then, even though it sucked for the longterm I guess.

Yep, it started in Gold and Silver. Espeon and Umbreon were introduced that generation and were marketed to show off that function. I'm pretty sure all cartridges (at least SNES and GB) have batteries for the saved data, but they're only used when the game is being played. GSC's are used constantly because the clock is always running. So an SNES game will still work and retain it's save data today, but GSC had shorter lifespans. Replacing them isn't too difficult and we have their remakes now anyway.

Recently hooked up my n64 all over again got a great deal on eBay (majorias mask, snowboard kids, yoshis story and Pokemon snap for £40)

Anyway so I restarted Pokemon stadium and thought I'd play yellow again from the start and play along with the stadium tournament modes. For a team all up to lv 16 at cerulean city stick the game in,

Error save file not find or corrupt :csad:

So back to the start:cmad:

I lost my favorite Dragonite, Tyranitar, Charizard and Kingdra because of this. :argh:

I'm gonna preorder the new game and get this. Hope it's good and not cheap in quality.

That looks cool! I wish I could just get the Pokéball though.....

It's a Europe-only thing as well. Probably worth mentioning for those who don't know what GAME refers to.

Sucks that it's a European exclusive.

Chasing down Entei and Raikou gets really old really ****ing fast.

My best friend did it when he was trying to complete the Pokedex. His frustration was hilarious to me. I caught the legendary dogs in the original Silver, so when SoulSilver came out I had no interest in doing that **** again. It's way too annoying.

I got Raikou earlier today with a random Ultra Ball. But I've got Entei's health in the red, he's asleep, and I'm using Fast and Quick Balls. ****er shakes once, breaks out and I start the entire hunting process again.

I never caught them in the original Silver, so now that I have Soul Silver I feel like I have to catch both. Just to prove that I can. :argh:
