J.J. Abrams on Spoilers in 'Wired' article

and you can enjoy the way, what you knew was going to happen, happens. lost is a prime example of this as it shows you the future and then lets you know how it happened and live the moment with the character.

in lost...the story is still moving forward. you do not know the future. just because you see the flash-forwards do not necessarily mean you know the end.

the narrative is still pushing you from A to Z. the flash-forwards do not is not showing you Z. Just like Memento. just because you see the future does not mean you are seeing the end.

well in momento you see backwards from W and forward to Z at the same time.

Um not, it's not a useless comparison, you just caught feelings. Making a movie exciting does not make a movie good. Learn to grasp complex ideas please.

A truly exciting Superman movie would be a nice change of pace. All you did is state an obvious fact (excitement doesn't equal quality), and thus is useless. Sorry for being too blunt.

No, you weren't being blunt, you were being a dick. I don't accept your apology.:o

but my point is...the story is still moving forward even the timeline is skewed, but the narrative is still moving forward from the film makers point of view. what happens in that warehouse is the end of the narrative, even if it's the middle for the character.

what you said of the letters is true for the characters, but in terms of the story, it's still A to Z. so even if you see the future of lost, it's not the end of the story. the end of the story will happen at the end of season 6.

It's a shame when people think it's fun to ruin a movie for others...or just ruin it for themselves really....the surprise of seeing some things for the first time when watching a movie at the theater is better in my opinion than reading about six months before it comes out.

well i didn't get spoiled for momento and i enjoyed watching it a second time and then in chronological order and then with commentary. maybe spoilers would have affected that. but i can choose to avoid them or not. and if i couldn't choose and was compelled then that'd be from a fault in my own character.
