I doubt it was on purpose. They probably had today always as the release of the poster (and the trailer was coming sometime this week confirmed a few weeks ago).

It just so happened Clancy passed away today.

I don't see how they could anticipate his death and decide to release the material at that time. Most likely whoever was in charge of the PR campaign didn't even know he had died until after this was already released.

I guess writers Adam Cozad and David Koepp are bigger names to the mainstream audience than Chris Pine cause Pine's name is absent from the poster even though he's the star.

Not even a typical Chris Pine IS Jack Ryan kind of deal.

Chris Pine and Keira Knightley aren't going to bring up the people I guess... Yeah, it is as weird as you think.

pretty cool poster. and no they didn't release this because of his death. I'm sure they released this way before it was announced he was dead and/or it was always planned and just a coincidence. On top of that, why it be in poor taste, Its a movie about his best character, its celebrating Tom Clancy more than in poor taste
