MrMaooz to the rescue, I'm not alone. I will eventually get around to watching the Ryan films.

I've only seen Sum of All Fears, would some consider that worst than seeing none of them.

I thought Sum of all Fears was pretty *****in' tho Hunt for Red October is my favorite by a wide margin.

I did not know that Keira Knightley was in this, but aside from her it looks pretty decent.

I'm going to see this just because it has Branagh hamming it up as a Russian baddie.

Its interesting to have an origins story (remaking Patriot Games would've sucked), but I hope they make Red Rabbit into a movie for the next one.

looks terrible, i expect more from a jack ryan film

Directed by Kenneth Branagh...nah. Directed by the guy who made that crap called Thor. Wow. It must really hurt. An accomplished actor and a director who made probably the best Hamlet adaption.

Thor.

Ouch.

Looks nothing like i expected from a jack ryan film.

Thor was Branagh's best reviewed movie in 15 years and was a critical and commercial success. As ridiculously talented as Branagh is, he's not a household name. It makes sense to market it as the director of Thor.

I'm sure "From the director of a bunch of Shakespeare adaptations you've never seen" would have worked much better.

I don't get the hate for SUM OF ALL FEARS. It was a nice take on Ryan at the beginning of his career, fairly intelligently written, with good action and tension.

I'm a little disturbed everytime there's a reboot of the Jack Ryan franchise, because it means no RAINBOW SIX movie for years and years. But this does look pretty good.

"You think this is game, Jack" still makes me laugh.

Right now, unless your last name is Spielberg or Nolan, you ain't getting billing in the ads as a director except for being known as the guy who directed such and such. Even Sam Raimi only got "from the director of the Spider-Man trilogy" for Oz.

"You think this is game, Jack" still makes me laugh.

Is there an inside joke here? Many people have laughed about that here and is it a reference to something else? Let me guess...Oblivion or Jack Reacher?

There is no inside joke and there's no reference to a recent Tom Cruise flick.

Or is it such a cliche that it's shocking to hear something like that still?
