]According to wiki, Saving Mr. Banks starts on December 13th [/B]but has a wide release on December 20th. Anchorman 2 is December 20th as well.

American Hustle also starts December 13. Damn...isn't Desolation of Smaug also coming out that Friday?

Why would they move for DoS? They are counter programming and lets be honest. AUJ didn't exactly seem to wow. That was big oversea money.

The Jack Ryan character seems to get younger and younger in each movie.

Is the next one going to be Jack Ryan investigating a lunch room conspiracy in high school?

So he is just like James Bond then.

Regardless, it's a billion dollar franchise. They'd be foolish not to move, imo. I think it's best for other movies, counter-programming or not, to be dated away from the guaranteed high-earning blockbusters.

American Hustle is only getting a small release in NY/LA on Dec 13th and getting a standard wide release a week later. DoS is not going to effect it, that much.

If 47 Ronin or Jack Ryan was being released in the same week as DoS than yea that would be stupid.

I'm not only talking about American Hustle, but A Madea Christmas and Saving Mr. Banks as well.

Madea is Madea, she always has her audience. Mr. Banks is also limited on Dec 13 and expanding the week after. This type of movie can appeal to the more adult crowd who might not go for the Hobbit or Anchorman. If anything, Monuments Men would be its competition.

Eh The Hobbit is no threat at all. It'll make huge money yeah sure but its not like its Batman or The Avengers where no movie stands a chance in the few weeks after it.

Oh yeah, forgot about Saving Mr. Banks and I even commented on it getting a wider release the week after Dec 13. For Madea, I understand she has her audience, but I still don't think it still won't reach its full earning potential being released on the same day as DoS. You have your opinions, and I have mine. I'll wait and see what happens with these release dates. Did The Hobbit have any direct competition(as in, movies released on the same day) when it released in 2012 in America? I can't recall.

I think the Hobbit had Jack Reacher to compete with.

Do you guys think Pine is big enough to sell this?

I don't think Pine's a really huge star yet.

Pine has yet to have his career defining role. It could have been Kirk if Star Trek Into Darkness performed better at the box office. Jack Ryan could be a freak of nature. Hey, weirder things have happened.

There aren't really many "huge stars" anymore. That's kind of a fading thing.

Based on all the movies coming out in December, this is going to need really good marketing and promotional material.

Skyfall was good but I've only wanted to see it once. I guess I'm not much of a Bond guy. The only spy flicks that I have enjoyed enough to see multiple times are Mission Impossibles 3 and 4.

I have yet too see 4, but damn was 3 amazing. That action sequence on the bridge was awesome.

This movie is up against Keanu Reeves & Ben Stiller on Christmas Day. It will be fine. The Anchorman 2 hype will have died down pretty damn quickly & maybe the only real competition will be The Hobbit. But by the time this movie comes out that will have been a two week old movie
