That's kinda what I had in mind, awesome.

I've always liked this interpretation from the Rory's Death Kiss challenge

I wanna talk to this kid one day and find out if he knows thats its only the jokers lips that are supposed to be red. :lmao::lmao:

I've noticed this on 4chan as well as on here, and I'm wondering - how did all these people whose messages consist mainly of, "Heath's Joker iz tha best, eff the comics Joker. Stoopid string tie," etc., ever get through even one issue of any Batman comic?

On that note, I'm at a loss - I think my ideal Joker would probably be somewhere in the middle, as there are a lot of elements I like from either.
I have always liked Batman, and I have always read the comics. The first time I saw Jack's Joker, I almost vomited. It was a typical Interpretation for Jack, which like I said before, He played himself.

I doubted Heath's Joker at first, but now I'm not ashamed to admit I was wrong. Now, I believe this will be THE Joker to remember. This will be a brilliant, original Joker. He may stray from some interpretations of the comics, but Nolan isn't making a pure Comic book to screen interpretation, he is making his vision.

In what other roles has he played himself?

The Shining?

Hoffa?

Witches of Eastwick?

Easy Rider?

About Schmidt?

It's just as easy to say Michael Caine always plays himself, but - I'm sorry, this criticism barely holds any water, especially when someone says something to the effect of, "just like he always does."

Come, now.

:whatever:
Basically everything after the shinning.

and way to be lame by rolling your eyes you prick.

Heath's look has really grown on me, probably because it's in line with my own aesthetic. I love the grungey, punk rock style. I love the design of his makeup. The black eyes have always been a staple of my own Joker art (whenever I draw the character, which is often, heh) - this probably dates back to the animated series.

But if we're talking traditional, there's no question that it's Jack.

The permasmile always kind of bothered me, but the major changes of Heath's Joker kind of put things in perspective; now the permasmile seems like such an insignificant and minor change in comparison to makeup and a cutsmile (not that I hate those aspects either).

I like Jack's various outfits, though I've never been a fan of the plaid-patterned pants. I thought the berret was a fun touch in the museum scene, and I love the frequent use of the classic round-brimmed hat (it's sad to see it missing in TDK).

I'm pretty sure you're just a troll, so I don't even know why I'm bothering to respond to this, but -

1.) It's spelt "Shining".

2. Terms of Endearment, Prizzi's Honor, A Few Good Men, Hoffa, The Pledge, About Schmidt, The Departed...

Even when he's "playing Jack", he's doing so much more. As Good as It Gets is a performance that gets lumped into that category, and yet...Jack Nicholson isn't an obsessive compulsive in real life, so..yeah. Doin' a little bit more than just 'playing himself.'

I guess I just feel like actions are much more important than words. I'm not so sure if I ever really thought of jack as the joker as much as it was his version of the character. And I don't feel his many wardrobes really added much to anything to the whole picture...instead it seemed like acting like hes wearing that outfit and how he should act in it...if that makes any sense.

And no doubt the writing for the character has changed constantly since his ****en creation, but heath seems to have really grabbed the character by the balls and sucked out all the important and interesting aspects of the character. (for me anyway)

The dirtyness of the jokers outfit and make up, that could have been neat or classy when he first put them on or when he reapplied or if he would even consider cleaning his clothes, makes the viewer unsure of what he is actually presenting to them. You see him and think "whats this guys deal." and it seems from what i've seen that it is up and down and all over the place, and hes not afraid to show more than one aspect of an insane man. He can sound depressing, he can sound pissed, he can sound up beat, and he can act in all of these roles as well. He can sound sane, and insane, which adds 982930823 times more depth than just acting silly and crazy. He makes sense and he doesn't make sense, you can justify his actions or you can't...really you don't know what hes going to say or do.

Are we eating just peanuts or an entire bowl of mixed nuts here?

So, you're gonna call me a Troll just because I don't have the same opinion as you guys?

Also, I misspelled. My goof, doesn't mean I'm stupid in real life. Let's just say I'm not a fan of Jack's later work because in every character, I find a huge amount of Jack and not the actual character he's playing.

The problem I have with the fan made movies are they use small scrawny actors to play the part of a criminal madman They hardly convince me that they've ever stole a penny-sweet never mind a bank lol.

Jack and Heath are two great actors but I can't decide because the movies were made so far apart and they are two different representation of the Joker.

Jack had almost everything right apart from two things:

- The tie, Burton gave him that stupid tie he has in the comics. IT DOES NOT WORK. Artists should remove it entirely. Give him a normal tie, that's it. A normal tie.

- The permanent grin. And this is unbelievable. Did you see The Shining? Did you watch The Departed? In what sane world do you get Jack frigging Nicholson on board and then hobble his performance by putting him in a prosthetic. His Joker was not everything it could have been and I blame Burton for that.

Now, if these things weren't an issue I'd give Nicholson the thumbs up. But as they actually happened Ledger gets my vote. As it is he looks completely authentic. But the grungy aspect to this incarnation still doesn't make complete sense to me. The Joker's vanity is one of his rare, genuine emotions. Why remove that?

He removed it because he started from scratch.

But it's kind of important to the character. He's a real egotist.

"This town deserves a better class of criminal. And I'm gonna give it to 'em."

"Tell your men they work for me now. This is MY city."

You don't think there's any ego in this Joker?

Well, aren't you forgetting that this is Heath's interpretation? It doesn't have to exactly be right out of the comics.

this thread is dumb. everybody knows the best joker is cesar romero. who the hell is heath ledger.

I just find it odd how his clear elitism is not matched in his personal hygiene. Oh, I have no doubt about the character. Don't get me wrong here. Ledger wil likely be the best on-screen version of the character. His dedication, input and originality must have been a wonder to behold. I have got nothing but mountains of respect for what he's done.
But I have a very clear image of the character in my mind and it's not so much the perma-white thing (As I ascociate that with a ****ty "Batman created me!!!!11!!" origin) but rather just how obsessively he fawns over his appearance. How he really does care about how he looks because it's part of his mystique.
And so saying that The Joker is grungy and fithy, athough an interesting direction, is not what I would traditionally ascociate with the character.
But, he has got a normal tie and that's a damn sight more than Burton gave Nicholson.
How could he have screwed it up so badly?

I think if DC created a newer updated universe, like Marvel did with the Ultimate universe, Heath's Joker would probably be the Joker of that universe while Jack's would be the Classic Joker.
