I don't really see Rhys-Meyers as Bond tbh
Neither did people see Craig as a Bond (pre CR).

People, come on now! If the next Bond will be something new, what traits of the character have never (or seldom) been a part of any portrayal?

It's not just you; I'd like that also.

I'd like that as well. I just doubt it for these reasons:

-His age. Fass is 37 right now, and Craig isn't going to be done for at least a few more years. Add onto that the few more years to make the first non-Craig Bond film. Is the studio really going to want to cast a guy who's already nearing his mid-40's (which is Craig's age right now) when he'd just be STARTING to play Bond? I kind of doubt it.

-IDK if Fass would want to commit to another genre franchise. He's already playing Magneto in the X-Men movies, and he's going to be starring in the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie. Maybe he would, but I'm not sure.

-The studio tends not to go for REALLY big names. While they don't cast complete unknowns to play Bond, they also don't usually go for massively big names.

I don't think Fassbender qualifies as a "massively big name".

But already being committed to X-Men probably counts him out.

I like the idea of Michael Fassbender as James Bond too. The guy is just the Bond from the novel.

I guess it's THE big thing : When will Craig abandon the role ? If he quit after Bond 25 (since he will do it), then Michael Fassbender will be 40, a good age for the role. If he quit after Bond 26, Michael Fassbender will be 42 / 43, the limit (it was the age when Brosnan began) But if he quit after Bond 27, then Michael Fassbender will be too old. It's always the leaving actor who rules the game of "who will be next". It's a poker game, and you must have the luck to be 35/42 years old when the previous abandon the role or you're out.

Wasn't there rumor that Hugh Jackman turned down the role in 2006, before Daniel Craig was cast ?

If they want to have an actor who lasts long in the role, i think that next, they should try someone who's in his early 30s. One think i would also like to see is better planning, they're doing each film based on what the reception of the previous one was, which has hurt the pay off of the Blofeld storyline in Diamonds are Forever and seems to be leading Quantum to be shafted quickly in favor of Spectre.

Was the reaction to OHMSS really that bad? I've heard it spoken off quite highly, with Lazenby being the one "meh" part of it. And given that Mr. White is apparently in this movie, I'm not so sure that they've completely dropped the Quantum stuff, but we'll have to wait and see.

Dan Stevens is a good choice, but what about Richard Madden? He will only be in his 30s when Craig likely steps down, he's good looking but not too good looking, he's famous but not too famous, and he's kind of chameleonic (he can be a prettyboy, haggard and bruised, older and younger, etc.).

Fassbender won't be Bond.

Anyone thats seen the series, the fall will knoe that Jamie Dornan would make a great Bond.

On another note; Paloma.

Cavill also has Napoleon Solo in The Man From Uncle which if proves popular could be a spy franchise for him in the long term

True, yeah. I hope that movie turns out to be good and spawns a franchise. Could be really cool, especially since it's a period piece.

Nope. Martin Campbell wanted Cavill and campaigned for him. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson were set on Craig from the start.

Ah, okay. I thought it was the other way around. Well, I think they made the right call there, as Cavill probably would have been too young at the time.

Way too good looking too. There has to be some space for Bond to use his charm to get what he wants; Cavill can stop people from breathing just by stepping into the room.

Amy Adams has joked that she will “hound” Christoph Waltz for James Bond-related news at the Golden Globes.

“I haven’t spoken to him about it. But I think it’s great. I think he’s such a natural fit for that genre,” she said.
She added, jokingly: “He should tell me if he’s playing the baddie. I’ll hound him at the Golden Globes, I’ll be on him all night!”

That's because nowadays people have started to see it in a more positive light, back in the day, it was a massive failure, people complained about the dark ending, it did much less than the previous films, and nobody seemed to like Lazenby, so the reception it got influenced the tone of Diamons are Forever, as well as their decision to not have the whole movie following the idea of an angry Bond seeking for revenge at the introduction, right after the credits, he got back to the way he generaly was in the Connery era, even when the character knew Blofeld was still alive.

Apocalypse is probably his last X-Men film.

The Assassin's Creed franchise and Prometheus sequel at Fox are what might keep him busy in the future.

I think Bond fans might find Richard Madden too soft. Some around here already claim Brosnan was too boyish looking.

She's so lovely. Maybe one day she could play a really cool baddie in James Bond? Or villain role if you prefer that to baddie

Amy Adams as a Bond villain? That's an interesting idea.

Cool Craig took time to take pics with the fans:

Fassbender can't play Bond! He's too obvious!

I'm sure this has been brought up, but I just realized how much spy stuff we're getting this year.

Agent Carter
Kingsman
Man from U.N.C.L.E.
SPECTRE
Mission Impossible 5

Only 3 superhero movies by comparison (though like a dozen shows coming up in the fall)
