Actually, connecting all of the Craig-era main villains/plots via a common mastermind is one idea that I actually LIKE. It's something that's never really been done in this franchise before (even the Connery films never tried to connect Goldfinger to SPECTRE). It's give this era a greater sense of continuity/ongoing story than previous ones.
My problem with the Andrew Scott thing is how predictable it is. Not just that he's an antagonistic rival, but that he turns out to actually be evil and in league with Blofeld. I can just picture a lot of people sitting in the audience and thinking to themselves "Gee, I never saw that one coming."
Especially since it's Andrew "Jim Moriarity" Scott playing the role.
