James Bond: 007 - Spectre - Part 5

Yeah, this seems to be very much in the spirit of OHMSS, just like I hope Bond 25 is the spiritual adaptation of YOLT. The Connery film absolutely gutted that book and destroyed some massive character development while they were at it.
:highfive:

Right there with you on YOLT. It needs to be done properly, and if these spoilers are true, I think that is exactly what Bond 25 could be.

Yeah, and I'm fairly convinced that Madeline is the new version of Tracy.

Exactly. It seems to be the perfect set up for that storyline. Arguably Bond's best.

I never liked the idea of "James Bond" being a code name, and Skyfall made it definitively obvious it's his real name.

I don't know how I feel about Oberhauser/Blofeld being behind every single Craig villain though.

SPECTRE being the director behind Quantum, and therefore the ultimate boss of Le Chiffre, Mr. White, and Dominic Green, I don't have a problem with, but Silva too? I like the concept of Silva/Rodriguez just being out for his own personal vengeance, not working for someone else. It set him apart from the motivations of Craig's other foes.

I also don't like the concept that all the events of the entire Craig series has been a convoluted way of Blofeld to mess with his foster brother's life because he's jealous. I like my Blofeld megalomaniacal, with global ambitions, to whom Bond is just a nuisance, not his entire motivation.
Not like James Bond has had all that great of a life to wreck.

Not a fan of SPECTRE
bankrolling Quantum. You're basically telling me a secret organization financially supported another secret organization.
UGH! Sh**ty writing no matter how you spin it.

Guessing SPECTRE was going to be Craig's last film until he signed to do another one so I can see this being part 1 of 2 so to speak.

If the upcoming James Bond movie were Die Another Day instead of Spectre, maybe that would've been cancelled as well. That's about North Korea. Funny how that didn't seem to be affected at the time.

Well, I'd say North Korea was treated a bit more neutrally in DAD, with General Moon shown to be somewhat sympathetic in comparison to his son and Zao.

Silva mentioned being a cyber-terrorist for hire. He probably worked for SPECTRE several times.

I'd consider Quantum more of a subsidiary, one of the tentacles of the Octopus if you would. Besides, at the time of those films, EON didn't have the rights to Blofeld or SPECTRE and because of that, that's why Quantum was born; the need of some big, bad organization. Now that they have the real deal, why not combine the two since thats what they were ultimately going for anyway? It makes complete, logical sense. Besides, they were always vague about Quantum anyway to the point where its not a very big stretch to the imagination at all that they could have been SPECTRE all along.

I am pretty sure Dr.NO, FRWL, thunderball, and YOLT Spectre/Blofeld are behind it....so it won't be that much different if Quantum is just front of SPECTRE so CIA, MI6 and other agencies won't know about the real criminal organization

SPECTRE in the novels consisted of members who were part of other criminal outfits; also Craig had signed on to do Bond 24 and 25 just prior to SF's release.

If the idea is that Spectre and Bond 25 end up being two parts of a whole, then they could be adapting the ideas of OHMSS and YOLT together. OHMSS has a lot to it other then tragedy.
Exactly. And remember, OHMSS was originally going to end with Bond and Tracy driving off from the wedding.

Agreed. A cover name would've worked better. Simplicity works best.

That's not s**ty writing at all. It makes sense for powerful secret organization to use smaller shadow organization as a part of a terrorist ring. It's been used in works before (hell, Connery's movies were set up like that, just without the official organization designations.)

I think there are lot's of people who don't want to read the script and don't want to know exactly what will happen, but are still eager to know more about the film ... so how cool would it be if those who have read it, would just drop some mysterious clues once in a while .... :P

Also, has there been any serious candidate for the artist who would sing the theme song. I heard they have already chosen the artist, but haven't made it public yet. I personally hope for Britney.

[BLACKOUT]JOKE[/BLACKOUT]

I don't mean Tracy as in Diana Rigg, I mean conceptually the daughter of a criminal who Bond genuinely falls in love with.

Oh I see what you mean now.

As for who's currently working on the title track for SPECTRE, i'll give you all a clue. It's not a man or a band/group.

Well judging from the people's reactions, I'm loving how this seems to be similar to OHMSS. Being that A LOT of great elements were unused from Fleming's novels, it's a terrific way from a writing stand point to go back to the source and mine the best of the best to create a great Bond film.

It won't be quite OHMSS, but it could be using the best elements from the novel and making its own story, yet the thing that fills in the gaps of what could have made OHMSS one of the greatest Bond films.

I do like the idea of Bond falling in love again. Might be time. To see Craig's Bond deal with it again in such a tragic way could create the most emotional Bond yet. For once, we will have proper continuity not only from the same Bond, but a Bond that has already dealt in love and death. Damn, even better than the thought of how Connery could have handled the last scene of OHMSS.

Love that Batista is going to be in the next Bond film

Exactly. And remember, OHMSS was originally going to end with Bond and Tracy driving off from the wedding.
I did not know that about OHMSS AnneFan. Thanks for the info. :highfive:
