Apparently as long as the character started out as white you can change them any which way you want because their the only type that are not defined by anything unlike characters of any other color.

Look, for example: Superman is an alien, his skin color can be anything. Spider-Man is from New York, his skin color can be anything. Captain America is a test subject of the American military, he is either American or African American. James Bond is british, not American. Mad Max is an Australian.

To be British or Australian, it can mean a variety of things. Luke Cage and Shaft represent blue collar black men living under white supremecy, you can't do that with a white man. Black Panther is the King of an Arican Nation which has been secluded from the outside world, they're all Africans there.

Sorry Batman should of edited my wording in that sentance but in my circle of friends and family we don't like what hollywood and the general outlook are doing . My mother who is a quite a fan of the original ANNIE refuses to go see the remake due to her origin and race change. As she put it " just trying to appeal to a 21st century audience,showing how black people have come up in the world since the original ".

Apparently we need to change the races and backgrounds of well established characters just to say" the world has changed for the better " is aload of bullcrap. I don't like it , you can have a black MI6 agent or Villian alongside Bond but changing him to a black character is not going to cut it. Everyone will jump on it like hot pancakes on a sunday morning. It will just reveal that Racism is still alive and kicking, tabloids, forums, chatshow/news will jump on the bandwagon which will once again put black folks in the negative limelight. Brocolli would roll in his grave,rest his soul.

All of this! In light of the last five years ranging from Oscar Grant to Trayvon Martin to the recent Mike Brown and Eric Garner, the world really hasn't changed so why must Hollywood promote a lie when the suits in charge are just as racist as the criminals who got away with these four noted deaths above.

In the end, EON's not going to dance to that tune regardless of a certain airhead executive and those who just love the idea of their flavor of the moment playing a specific iconic role (see Michael B. Jordan). Speaking as an African American male, I want more new characters of color, not racebend the canonical ones and pretend to be progressive, same with genderswapping; with the latter, I side-eye Marvel's animation division for Petra Parker for USM's Spider-Verse episodes when the could've used Mayday/Spider-Girl. Same goes for Doctor Who regarding the recent drastic change to the Master (and with 0 reason in story as to why just so Steven Moffat can give the two finger salute to his feminist critics and with using Michelle Gomez to do it no doubt).

Want to be progressive? Just give us new orginal POC characters and stop taking the lazy route; its cheating.

If you're going to change one big part of the character's heritage then you might as well change it all.

I admit I miss having him as he has been THE Bond guy since TND, but I have to say I REALLY like what Newman did in Skyfall and look forward to what he does for Spectre. I hope Arnold gets to come back as I am a LONG time fan of his stuff in these films.

Newman's always been Mendes' collaborator, and is a massive Bond fan so I expect he'll be around for Bond 25. I get the feeling if EON asked him to stay on after Mendes and Craig left he'd probably do it, but it's just as likely that they'll probably get someone completely different with 26.

for next bond actor, i was sold on fassbender from his scenes in inglorious basterds. if he were cast and acted similarly to that character and the movie was good, he'd be my favourite bond

He'd still be British, so nothing truly changes. Same would go for Spidey, Supes, etc.
