James Bond: 007 - Spectre - Part 8

I dont know why this part made me laugh so hard but it did

Because you know its true and you were thinking the exact same thing.

If he wrote this in 20 minutes (it sounds like it) then **** him. That's the sort of half-assed lazy effort I'd expect a teen to put in their literature homework.

And Eon and whoever else runs this franchise had three years to get their **** together for this film and they waited until the last damn minute and then went with the first recording of a half-assed song...

It sounds like it. It sounds like there should be more to it but there isn't.

I've listened to the whole thing now. The problem is it sounds like a musical number. A kind of big ballad where the main character is faced with a choice at the end of the second act.

If you imagine it is Elsa singing it in Frozen 2 and wondering how she can live or breathe and risk it all, or imagine Lea Michelle is singing it in an episode of Glee, then on that level the song works. But as a Bond title song it doesn't.

Maybe Spectre is actually a musical and they are wanting to surprise us.

Easily, one of the worst Bond themes in the franchise. What a bland theme... To go from Skyfall to this...Is it too late to call Lana Del Rey?

EON needs to suck it up and just get Muse to do a Bond theme already.

The song should've been titled Spectre. It would've focused his efforts a bit more and given it a better, more thematic title about chasing or being haunted by ghosts from the past.

Instead if you got Idina Menzel to sing the current song, you probably wouldn't guess it was for Bond. The thematic story of the song is a bit too emo for Bond. It's almost more of a Let it Go number, except that song was way better.

This is also more of a woman's song just in the whole style, theme and even vocal range, which is why it doesn't suit Bond. And I don't mean a female vocalist's song, although it is that too, but it feels like it's something a female character would be singing about.

I can see a case for Moneypenny, but i had no problem with John Blake at all, it wasn't supposed to be some important plot element, more like a neat inside joke for fans. I actualy liked that part of the film.

I personally just hate that kind of reveal and its been a lame trend. The John Blake one is just silly though. Several Robins to choose one and they make one that's literally just named Robin and then play it off as a reveal. Its a wetfart at the end of the movie.

[BLACKOUT]I'd say the Oberhauser/Bond foster brothers, dad loved Bond more and so he is now behind all the previous films sounds concerning. May pull it off, but that sounds like a tricky one to not have feel contrived and cliche.[/BLACKOUT]

Honestly, I'd read the leaked plot outline, and the story didn't seem particularly superior to Skyfall. Obviously, there'll be changes, but still.

Ok, judging by what Snow Queen said, I can see what you mean. That could come off as really cliche and cartoonish.
I also don't care much for plots that come after X amount of movies with some revelation that there was someone that caused it all. It's very Scream 3-ish.

It's a dull high pitched ballad that has some nice Bond orchestra music interrupting the dreary warbling 2 or 3 times. I have not heard any of this guys other songs but I wish now Adele had not turned down doing the theme as I loved Skyfall.

Agreed. It's like hit (CR), miss(QOS), hit (Skyfall), miss (Spectre) with the songs for Craig's movies. When they miss they really miss.

I just find it strange that the song seemingly samples the score. The switch from the orchestra to the piano is rather stark.

Has there ever been a good Bond movie, that has had a bad theme song..? I think they're pretty synonomous with one another.

I'm bored of the Craig era. Too many of these hit and miss songs and certain film elements which fall short.

I didn't like the theme, and I'm wary about the film itself, but I'm pretty comfortable with the Craig era. Even the worst film (QoS) is one of the more watchable films in the series.

I still to this day think QOS was decent, and don't rate it among the worst Bonds. It just falls short when compared to CR and Skyfall.

I knew it. I knew his song would be a boring moapfest. We were fooled by the 15 seconds sneak peek. It's not exciting at all for a an action tentpole.

I finally listened to it. That is, after being forced to download Spotify, uninstall it when the song wouldn't play, and then install it AGAIN just to hear it.

And after all that, I have to say...... this song isn't good. At least, not as a the theme song for a Bond film. And DEFINITELY not as the follow up to Adele's Skyfall. It's a solid Bond inspired song, but not close to a good Bond theme.

The music itself is fantastic, but it's wasted on lyrics that are lazy and cliche, and the vocals are bland and lacking any of the power that Adele and many other artists had with their go on a Bond theme.

This song was written in 20 minutes, and it shows.

4/10 you tried, Sam. Though, perhaps, not hard enough.

Love Kanye as a musician...but nah no no no n o no.

Actually a Kanye produced track with John Legend singing couldve been great.

I'm not saying "let him sing". He's not an idiot. He would've enlisted someone else to do the actual singing, probably squeezing a small verse from him, but still.

But yeah, a Kanye/John Legend collab could've been really something.

I would not put it past Kanye to "sing" a Bond theme

As a big fan of rap, I dont really want a rap or a rap-sung 808's and Heartbreak, Drake style of a Bond theme.

I think they have a lot of people and I dont think Smith is a bad choice they just dropped the ball

The song isn't horrible and I appreciate the effort for it to not sound like Adele again. It's not as good as Skyfall of course. On its own? Yeah I don't see myself playing it over and over like Skyfall and You Know My Name. But it could work in the context of the film and the opening credits sequence will help make it pop. I do like how it's not as big as Adele's. I like how its more somber and sad. It sounds like Bond will be going through some sad ****. Just because it's not as good doesn't mean I want Adele again or someone who has a similar vocal range, it's about execution of the idea. And the idea itself was great yet the execution isn't there. Maybe I'll like this better in the context of the film and when it's cut down and mixed but the song still needs to stand on its own but by itself it's kind of flat. Or maybe by the end of the film and once I understand what happens to Bond I can appreciate the song for what it is much more.

Ha! Nah, even he knows better than that.

I don't know... I was actually thinking something more in the style of Blood On The Leaves, or even Lost In The World. But no rapping.

I don't think so. Every great Bond film has had an equally great theme. That's part of the reason the films themselves are so good.
