I don't dig it, but I do know a lot of people like it. YOLT would by my selection for good song, bad movie.

I like YOLT, but that's beside the point now.

I think what makes YOLTs theme stick out that the orchestral sound was beautiful and unique in addition to being a great compliment to Nancy Sinatra.

The orchestral sound here is underwhelming and while it compliment's Smith, Smith's voice nor the sound pop out. It's just not an exciting song.

Honestly, I'd go as far as to say it's the most boring Bond theme yet.

Its boring, for sure. And I don't mind high notes if they are done well. But here they are annoying. A song should make me want to turn up the volume, not turn it down.

How does QoS fit in terms of song/film quality for you?

I think the biggest problem with QoS' theme is that it shouldn't have been a ballad and Alicia Keys probably should have sung the whole song herself. I didn't like Jack White's singing in the song. Like the movie, the theme had potential that was squandered so in a way the theme fits perfectly with the movie.

I actually like QoS more then most Bond films, but I wouldn't call it anything other then mediocre, and that is down to the actors doing their best to salvage an obviously unfinished script. The made me care for Bond, M and Camille. I love Jack White's music, but I think the song is pretty terrible.

I like the instrumentals of "Another Way to Die," but the vocals ruin it, imo.

:funny: that's actually kind of a perfect way to put it.

it's sad that the Quantum of Solace game had a better theme song than the one in the movie :funny:

don't get me wrong I agree with the others the song in the movie would have been a LOT better if Alicia sang it solo I heard her version from a 'live' show and it was far better as a solo instead of a duet

I'm the same way. The instrumental and production behind it was great. I don't think Alicia Keys has the strongest voice, but the decision to make it into a duet with two meh-ish voices didn't help matters (and I like both of them as artists, to be clear).

The Instrumental for Another Way to Die is great. Agree that the duet between Keys and White didn't work but I'll be honest, I'd opt for Whites vocals, if I had to choose between the two.

I'll opt for Keys because I think you needed a more smoother, sultry voice for the instrumental.

A decent song. Not as good as Skyfall, but still good. Has a dark and sad vibe. My only complaint is that Sam Smith's voice sounds way too soft, but I guess that is his style.

A crazy thought just popped into my head - I'd have most likely loved a Jim Morrison/Doors Bond track. :D Imagine that.

Okay, just heard it and have to go with the majority. Boring for the most part, ugly for the high-pitched part.

dont like the song... agree with: just boring.. and that high pitched singing.....:yuk:

That preview was the best part..

It's kinda boring but I think it sounds alright. Im not going to be listening to it on repeat like Skyfall or You Know My Name.

I only heard a preview and so far it sounds very dull and insipid. It's just a man having angst about some lost love or something and not really fitting for a spy film. Does it stay at that same level past the first verse and chorus or do any drums and other orchestration kick in?

I didn't want a ballad. Is it even a power ballad? We should've had a more aggressive rock song. What's their obsession with ballads?

Apparently he only wrote this in 20 minutes. I think he should have given this more thought and not just decided he'll do another soulful love song as he always does.

If this gets to number 1 it would be undeserving and ironic that the dullest Bond song has that honor while other better ones don't.

You know if this was just a Sam Smith song and not a song for a Bond film I think I'd like it more.

That might not make sense, but that's how I see it. It's still not bad though. Will have to give it more listens

Ultimately, the buck stops at those in the production who gave the track the thumbs up.

I haven't been following the production of this movie religiously. But I like everything I've seen and heard so far. Is there something specific that we know of that might make this movie a disappointment, or not as good as Skyfall, or are people just talking in general about keeping expectations in check?

Honestly, I'd read the leaked plot outline, and the story didn't seem particularly superior to Skyfall. Obviously, there'll be changes, but still.

Yeah, they pretty much failed this track. Like Dark Raven, said, this was written and 20 minutes and I heard they went with the first recording, and it shows in both regards.

I hope the movie is not 3 hours. Some parts of Skyfall dragged. I'm from Scotland and I know the highlands are pretty but we don't need to see Bond and M stare at the hills for what feels like 15 minutes.

Surprised Bond and M were not bitten to death by midges :cwink:

Just heard the song. Kept waiting for it to kick up the tempo but it never did. It bored me after twenty seconds. Then kept going.

Daniel Kleinman's main titles can maybe make a little difference..he's always does great work..

Wow, the new song is boring as sh**.
