For me, nobody will surpass Bernard Lee in the role. He was perfect.

I guess as every generation does their own thing, everyone will have their own M like how every doctor who fan has their own doctor

I think Dench's M was a trope, to be honest. She played the part very well, but I think Bernard Lee did more with an awful lot less.
