This simulation is cool!

I completed all 5 simulations and it took me to the trailer for Skyfall.

Maybe for those of you old enough to remember but what was the six year gap period between dalton and brosnan like?

Did some people start thinking the franchise might have been dead at that point?

From what I've been told by others many thought the series was dead. The ending of the Cold War probably didn't help opinions, Bond was very much a character connected with it. Also, I think they had run out of Fleming novels to use by that time.

basically yeah.

No internetz back then so any news was scarce.

As big a deal has been made about casino royale reinventing and reinvigorating the franchise, it seems that goldeneye had a lot more to overcome and a lot more pressure on it that CR did even.

I'll always say, GoldenEyes legacy has so much to owe to N64.

I'd say that the Bond franchise itself has a lot to owe to Goldeneye 64. It got a lot of kids who grew up in the 90s (myself included) into the franchise.

In retrospect, I would say yes.

It's kinda like I felt that the 70's and indirectly the 80's nostalgia has a lot to owe to 'That 70's Show' and ermergence of retro lo-fi garage bands like The Strokes and The White Stripes. Not just music or style but gave birth to a new (old?) culture.

It brought back the shaggy/bed head look (which I've got). Teenaged boys have shaggy hair without knowing where it came from, and shows how circular things are.

Except for the fact that the game came out 2 years after the movie. It was already a big success critically and commercially. The movie owes nothing to the game.

That was a ****ing awesome game. I remember playing it at my mates house most days during the summer holidays in 1997. Great times.

Well I've just watched Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace back to back. I'm getting ready for next weekend...:woot:

agree completely - I think a whole generation remembers the movie much more fondly and see it as being better than it actually was because of the game

Nah, I've loved goldeneye ever since I saw it way back in 95'. The game was amazing, but not everyone thinks GE rules because the game was cool.
