Okay so Connery's Bond inspired Spielberg to make Indiana Jones and Jones inspired Tomb Raider and Uncharted and The Mummy and another billion heroes. Bond also inspired Nolan when making Batman Begins, the Dark Knight, and Inception. Begins then inspires all these other reboots including Casino Royale. The Dark Knight then inspires Skyfall. We aren't exactly breaking new ground here, Copernicus.

Six degrees of Kevin Bacon and there is no way Shia Lebouf is Bond's grandson I don't care which Bond girl was his mother.

It's very John Barry-ish. But compare that, to this :

Little too similar, also not to mention they licensed that cue for use in the movie.

Maybe he is trying to give a mix of Arnold and Barry?

Possibly. I think it's just going to be a buildup, then they'll mix in Arnold's theme. Hopefully it's not Newman trying to do Arnold, but we'll see in a few hours, now. :cwink:

Ah, my bad.

On two other (one slightly unrelated note), is anyone's theater showings for skyfall saying it starts a day earlier, at 12 PM, and not any signs of a midnight showing?

Also, I'm starting my first Bond story, A View to a Kill (though I read QoS).

Is your theater an IMAX theater? Skyfall is opening in IMAX a day earlier than the standard release.

Moreso a liemax. We have an Imax...but it's pretty much liemax.

Which is odd, cause I really want that midnight poster, but I see no midnight releases.

I have a question for you Bond fans:

After Die Another Day, what was the catalyst for EON to go more 'grounded' and 'back to basics' with the following film? As far as I know, it was probably due to good timing the 'Casino Royale' suit was settled but that was after 2002.

Or rather:What was EON's original intent for the next Bond if they didn't get the 'Casino' rights back? Did they have another script/treatment waiting in the ranks? At that point, Bond as a franchise was critic-proof ala Transformers because it still made tons of money especially after DAD. And it seemed like the Broccolis still wanted Pierce back for the next one...initially.

What was the change of heart? I really think it was a series of events that lead to the recasting and reboot.

From what I can remember, those hack scriptwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were writing a new screenplay for the next Brosnan outing in 2004, bringing Bond back to ground level. As time went by, it became clear to the producers that they wanted to go into a different direction and thought Casino Royale was the obvious choice to start fresh. The rest is history.

Hmm that's odd that there isn't a midnight showing listed. I'd give em a call and find out what's going on. Wouldn't want to miss getting that poster. Thing will look great framed.

Slight correction it was fully george lucas's idea. Spielberg wanted to direct a bond film but lucas told him about his idea for a character that was better in his view. Spielberg wanted to add bond like elements to the character but lucas turned most of them down.

I'm gonna do just that.

Gonna look pretty sexy, next to my Bane 12:01 AM poster. :word::word:

Yeah the bane poster is pretty sweet, those eyes still haunt me. I booked my imax tickets for the friday night showing though. For some reason i didn't/don't think the midnight imax showing for skyfall would be that big of an event especially compared to TDKR.

And just to add Lucas Indiana Jones was chiefly inspired by Charlton Heston movie Secret of the incas.

Craig's Bond is an alcoholic, while Lazenby's Bond seems to be a crazed sex addict.

And Brosnan is trigger happy. :P

My collective thoughts : It's really not a bad score, and there are some awesome cues on here (Grand Bazaar, New Digs, Severine, Quartermaster, The Chimera; Adrenaline, and Mother), but the rest is either good-filler.

It's a really fine score on its own, but it's a frustrating score, because while as a whole I enjoy the experience, it doesn't feel that bondish to me. Love you Newman, but I hope Arnold comes back for Bond 24.

Score overall : ****/*****
Score as a bond score : ***/*****

That's awesome, but it's got to be fake right? There are just too many chances for people to be injured for Coke to take the risk of personal injury lawsuits.

Yeah they they must have been actors those guys. If that was me I'd have ran straight through that Payne of glass...good advert though.
