so how many of you guys are actually going to go see the rerelease? I think i actually might, I had always planned on seeing it a second time but money got tight.

Just saw that one of the theaters in my city is going to play the movie in september. Definately am gonna check out the movie and i'll try to bring my one of my brother's in-laws to see it with me. He's never seen a 3d movie and if he can manage not to drink his beer early on , i'll think he'll enjoy the movie alot :woot:

The Young Jeff Bridges in Legacy is 100% a digital character from head to toe. Bridges spoke in an interview of how he spent alot of time in "The Volume", where actors did mo-cap for Avatar
its only the face on a body actor.

i dont know where you have the info that they created a full human body

I think Heretic means the scenes where Kevin talk to his son in the real world, Jeff is de-aged by CGI.

No, I mean that...I believe...that the actor known as Jeff Bridges...is not human. The man has led a hard life, and I refuse to believe that he isn't being reanimated by CGI.

"We're doing a longer version for the DVD that is 16 to 17 minutes longer," he said, "but you'll have the choice: You can watch [the nine-minutes-longer version] or you can watch the original if you want to."

I read this news but I am a bit confused :

- the theather rerelease will be 9 minutes longer : check
- the DvD and BR rerelease will have the 9 minutes longer version AND the "short version": check
- the special DvD will have a 16/19 minutes longer version : check but why DvD and not BR ?
- what about the BR version of the 16/19 minutes longer version : ???

17more minutes of alien tree hugging... nice

Isn't it ? And you will have to watch it in loopback like Alex in a Clockwork Orange.

You're overthinking it. Cameron is just saying DVD as a catch all term.

There will be one Ultimate Edition DVD/Blu-Ray that will contain

1. The original cut
2. The Special Edition re-release
3. A new even longer cut exclusive to this set.
4. Tons of special features.

Haaa thanks !

I'm glad he's making a 16-19 minutes longer cut. Hearing before he was only adding 9 minutes of extra footage seamed disappointing.

I'm glad theres still someone in hollywood the recognizes dvd users still enjoy special features.

Does anyone know what all that extra footage will consist of?

I already know the scenes for the extra nine minutes but I wonder what the other scenes are going to be. I'm sure one of them will be on earth but i'm sure there will be more on Pandora.

I love the part when Cameron says "we asked the studio for an extra few million in order to finish the extended scenes"

Few million? No problem there i'm sure :woot:

I may be in the minority, but I dont give a darn about extra stuff for the DVDs. I have never bothered to watch any special feature on any DVD I have ever bought. In fact, I bought the extended version of Watchmen, and think that the added scenes mostly take away from the film.

Hmm...it depends on how many new scenes are going to be added...I may go see it again in 3D though.

I think it's from Comic COn. It's on youtube somewhere. But for instance where he walks up to Sam in the trailer that's all 100% digital body, head, everything.

it would cost too much money and be too much work for them to make young Jeff Bridges completely CGI. not to mention the director says that he wants to use as many practical effects as possible. i haven't read anywhere that states that young Bridges is 100% CGi, including his body and if a credible source is posted then whatever....but logic would dictate that they used a body double and replaced the double's head with a young Jeff Bridge's head, which is obviously CGI.

my view on deleated scenes is that most of them were deleated for a reason. ( one of the few exceptions is lord of the rings)

I geek out on special features. I'm willing to put out a little extra money if the dvd is well put together. In recent years they've pushed all these on blue ray and produced bull crap barebones dvds claiming that a two disc dvd set wont fit the features. My dvd colection begs to differ.

I usually agree, but I think the deleted scenes in The Lord of the Rings (esp. The Two Towers), Terminator 2, and Aliens add to the movies.

What are they?

but I wonder what the other scenes are going to be.

If it's not in the nine minutes, then I suspect there will be a scene in the further extended cut that takes place near the beginning of their trip from Earth to Pandora where Jake and Norm see their avatar bodies as babies. That was in script and I'm assuming they filmed some version of it because of Jake's "Damn! They got big." line.

here is the original script if you wanna read it, there was a long scene of Jake in the future earth which I doubt will be in the re-release but hopefully in the dvd/bluray

i think the extra DVD scenes will be the Earth opening,Tsu'tey drunk and the na'vi party with neytiri dancing
