Well... Most people thought T2 smashed the first Terminator to bits. I trust the director will give us a great sequel to Avatar

Only 6 minutes Extra on the re-release?

I hope it's action during the last bit and not exposition.

Also I'm seeing stuff on the sequel, the Ocean thing didn't surprise me, I've followed Cameron's career closely, he has a love for it and I predicted an Ocean themed sequel. Just like I was in the 1% that predicted Avatar going over 1Billion.

I'm quite confident that he'll hit the sequel and blow us all away, we know the basics now, that's all the first one was for, getting us used to it, now he can go all out and properly blow us away.

What can I say he's a master of sequels, Aliens, Terminator 2, those are possibly some of the greatest sequels of all time, so I'm just gonna sit back and wait for another masterful sequel.

the 6 mins has the future earth that was cut in the intro of the film, the sex scene, Tsu'tey extended death scene, Tsu'tey & Jake getting drunk, and a couple more scenes and thats about it for the 6-7 mins of the deleted scenes but im hoping they add more that wasnt already fully rendered

James Cameron talks to EW about 'Avatar' DVD, the sequel, and the future of 3-D (and why 'Clash of the Titans' isn't it...)

Here's the part on 3-D:

Is there any chance that this wave of 3-D is a passing fad like it was in the ’50s and ’80s?

No, it’s here to stay. You can completely discount the ’80s because there were only a few titles and it was sporadic. It never really caught on. The first wave started in 1951 with Bwana Devil and it lasted 18 months. And there were 25 3-D films in 18 months and then that was it. And all of the problems caught up. The problems with exhibition, the problems with photography and eye strain, the tendency of projectionists to get it out of sync. That’s not what’s happening here. This started six years ago and has steadily built over time. There’s been enormous validation from the audience around the world. And Avatar made an enormous amount of money — 75 percent of which came from 3-D screens. This isn’t going to go away. The audience gets it, the audience has spoken.

6 mins is a little too little? :(

There is a total of about 40 minutes of deleted scenes which we will be able to watch on the Special Edition set later on this year. James thought that out of those 40 minutes only 6 are worthy of reinserting into the movie

I picked up the Blu-Ray this morning, as usual it looks absolutely gorgeous, I can't wait for the Special Edition to come!!!:awesome::up:

Yea I did'nt even know that there was going to be a special edition with extra's comming out in November until AFTER I got home from wal-mart with my Blu-ray/DVD combo copy and saw an article online talking about it.(I have been away from the Avatar boards here for a little while lol) I was talking with a friend in while grabbing a copy of the movie and did'nt even notice that there were NO extras at all in this edition. I was kinda mad earlier but no need to cry over spilled milk you know? I will just enjoy my blu-ray copy now and pick up the special edition in Nov!

Just finished watching the Blu Ray version of Avatar...absolutely stunning. The audio and visuals were a step above anything I've seen on the format thus far. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this movie. My parents were watching it as well, and I was surprised how much they got into it...particularly my Dad. He really loved it, and he can be hard to please with movies at times.

I wish it had some extras on it, but I've got no regrets about picking it up.

Well.... I must say re-watching at home, without 3d, some of the "magic" (if there was much) is lost

But at least its sharper now

I already knew about the special edition but I didn't wanna wait, it's not the first time I end up buying 2 copies of a movie I love and I'm sure it won't be the last!!!:awesome::up: Unless I get hit buy a semi and die, that would suck!!!:shock:shock:shock:oldrazz::D

It does have one tiny extra. There's a 30-second Public Service Announcement located on the "Set Up" menu, below the subtitle selection. But that's all.

I'm glad Cameron has the clout to not let the studio put useless studio trailers on their home video releases. Alongside Spielberg, Tarantino, Whedon and Peter Jackson that is.

Yea I hate Disney DVDs where it has like 10 trailers before you can access the menu

Not all Disney DVDs have those annoying previews (the vast majority of them do, as well as their Miramax/Touchstone releases). The Lilo & Stitch 2-disc SE has no previews at all, as well as Apocalypto and other scattered releases.

I remember back in 2002 and 2003, Disney was the lone exception putting previews on their DVDs (and every other studio opted out). Such a shame, really.

Logically, it diminishes the quality of the movie itself.. which is why I bought the DVD/Bluray in the first place. Which is why Cameron doesnt want any previews/ bonuses on the disc.

So yea, Disney should think about that

I don't think Disney or any of the studios will exclude/omit previews off any of their DVD/Blu-ray releases unless it's specifically worded in the director's/producers' contracts. Only a few of them do.

At least when Transformers 3, Adventures of Tintin and The Avengers hit DVD and Blu-ray in the next 2 years, at least those won't have previews.

I dont care what people say about the rehashed story... I love this movie

I'm wondering if six whole minutes of extra footage is going to be worth the extra 10-15 bucks the special edition is going to cost. I was hoping for more. :(

I saw some of this at Wal-Mart earlier that they had playing on one of their display tv's. It's pretty crisp, and the CG on the Na'vi characters is close to flawless. The thanators look too shiny though.
