the only thing they had on the demo floor that showed off the 3D tvs was Monsters vs Aliens

not really changing the story but expanding it, theres a couple of scenes that would really helped the character development of Jake and Grace

I see, and will these scene be on the current Blu Ray release or just the November 4 disc version?

I heard that
there is a scene added to the end that shows Jake wishing he could return to his human body.

the Nov 4th version. theres nothing added to the current disc and I havent heard about that scene but theres a scene of Jake in the future earth in the beginning of the film. Im looking forword to that.

1) Excluding the boringly predictable (anything porn and/or sex related),
what creatively witty serious and/or humorous things would you most like doing and getting up to, if you could spend 1 day on the planet Pandora ?

2) What skill/s or ability of the Na'vi people in Avatar, would you seriously or humorously most like possessing and please say why.

Grab all the Ubtonium I can carry and get back to Earth! :)

I would terraform the planet. Thus eliminating any further threat & possible horrid plot devices. Then chill out with some cold ones & some BBQ'ed jelly fish. While watching the Navi slowly die from the new habitable planet.

I would Avatar link into a Hammerhead Rhino and kill also those stupid blue hippies!

The Avatar blu-ray visuals are AMAZING!! Seem to be even more detailed & sharper than the cinema version!

its a visual trick. the smaller the pic is the more compressed the details are. so it looks more sharper.

Yeah, also the 3D deteriorates the quality & detail in the cinema. But I own loads of blu-rays of films I've seen in the cinema. This is the best by miles. The non jungle scenes are solid but anything in the jungle will blow your eyes out. I really wasn't expecting it to be that good...if anything I was expecting it to be worse due to the lack of 3D which seemed to be one of the major selling points of the Avatar experience. You need to see it!!

yea I saw Fry's play AVATAR on a LED tv and it was even more amazing, it was shown in real time

I see, thanks for the info. My Blu Ray copy has been dispatched so I may see it this weekend! :woot:

Yeah, I agree that the picture quality was mind blowing. You don't even care that it's not in 3D, plus the sound was better too. I was hearing all sorts of critters I had missed in the theater. It was amazing. :D

i finally got around to seeing this the other day and found it to be entirely.....vapid.

So I finally got my dad to watch this the other day. About 20 minutes in he calls me and says "What the hell is this Dances With Wolves in Space?!?!" I couldnt help but laugh

Just got done watching the film on DVD in regular 2D format.

The movie was stunning visually, amazing graphics. Stephen Lang was badass in the movie. The problem I had with the movie was that the story was a bit lacking in the second half. Lang, Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana had good performances, with Zoe's being the best. Michelle Rodriguez (while not a good actress) isn't bad to look at. And Joel David Moore.....I liked him in Dodgeball a bit better but he wasn't bad.

I give it an 8.

I made a hybrid kind of video for Avatar combining movie footage with the band Sevendust.

i wasnt even too impressed with the visual effects. most of the CGI looked like CGI, which to me makes it a failure. especially when the vast majority of the effects could have been accomplished without CGI.

The thing that makes the film so popular is that it appeals to all demographics, women, men, adult or child, they all seem to love the movie because it has something for everyone.

I can understand people not liking it, it is flawed and story-wise nothing special, but it is a simply story that anyone can relate too, the fact that is has made almost $1 billion more than Titanic confirms this, as do record breaking DVD/BD sales.

I gotta agree with this. Cameron knows how to make a film that will appeal to the masses. He had a simple story which people can understand and that will allow them to enjoy the alien characters and environment.

In the sequel he should be able to go all out with the story seeing as people have accepted and likened to Avatar.
