Cameron's a control freak and a perfectionist. "Hands off" is not in his vocabulary.

Avatar 2, 3, 4
James Cameron has confirmed which writers worked on which scripts for all three back-to-back "Avatar" sequels. After much work, the first screenplay is expected to be ready within weeks.
"Avatar 2" was written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, "Avatar 3" was written by Josh Friedman, "Avatar 4" was written by Shane Salerno. James Cameron will score a co-writing credit on all three. Writer Steven Gould has also been involved with the process and has been tasked with writing the novelizations for each movie. [Source: The New York Times]

That is great news about the screenwriters for Avatar 2, those two are amazing.

Anyone else excited to see the new creatures in the next series of films? I loved the look of all the creatures in the first film. And now expanding into oceans and underwater we can see some really cool ones. Excited to see what designs they come up with.
I'm very excited to see what we get this time. Cameron created a very rich world. I'm sure he's going to expand it beyond anything we can expect.

Zoe Saldana Says Avatar Sequels Will Take Eight to Nine Months to Film

Though she'll be appearing as the green-skinned assassin Gamora in this weekend's Guardians of the Galaxy, Zoe Saldana is about to step back into the shoes of the blue-skinned Neytiri for James Cameron's Avatar sequels. Speaking with the Daily Mirror, Saldana provided an update on the upcoming three sequels, which she says will shoot in Los Angeles and will take the better part of a year.

"James Cameron is still working on the final drafts of the script and then everyone in the cast will get the call. We're going to be shooting mainly in Los Angeles and that will make things easier for me since I live there. Because we're doing the sequels back-to-back and it's going to take at least eight or nine months or more to finish the (three) films."

Set to also feature the return of cast members Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver, Avatar 2 is scheduled for a December 2016 release which will be followed by Avatar 3 in December of 2017 and Avatar 4 in 2018. The original film remains the top grossing movie of all time with $2.782 billion at the worldwide box office.

Avatar 2, 3, and 4 will be produced by Cameron and Jon Landau through their Lightstorm Entertainment.

as expected. Camerons Avatar 2 will have so many mega details and complex environments that WETA needed to start RnD for a new software. they created a new software for rendering CGI in Avatar 2.

of course Manuka(new software) needs to be finished and tested before they can start post production on Avatar 2. for this they need at least 4-5 big hollywood movies to test it out. first Hobbit 2,second Dawn of Planet Apes and third Hobbit 3.

using models from the first Avatar movie? saving money? :lmao:

To be fair those models still hold up insanely well. I still can't believe it's been like 5 years.

I just wish Cameron made more films, instead of taking around a decade for each of these projects, with all that he had planned he can easily go back and take the title of "Mr.Blockbuster".

The CG still looks amazing, the guy really is a visual perfectionist. As a story teller i think its more of a hit and miss, ultimately more of a miss. Even though he made trucks full of money the script from Avatar is extremely thin, and its been like 5 years since the last movie? He is going to need something really good to match those numbers, i don't think Mo Cap and 3d will be enough this time. On top of that Marvel and DC will be full throttle, specially Marvel so i don't think it will pull those numbers again

With the exception of Nolan's The Dark Knight, Marvel and DC have yet to make a movie remotely as good as Aliens or either Terminator. Cameron has nothing to fear from them, they should steer clear of him.

Eh, I'd be willing to argue Aliens, but I haven't seen the movie in a long time, and I agree about the Terminator movies.

No company in general should go up against Cameron. The only franchise I could see getting the better of Cameron if released same weekend possibly is Star Wars.

Agree, but Avatar is neither of those movies. They were better written , and its not about the quality , just by quantity marvel now is a brand name, people will see anything they throw at the screen. And for the record i prefer Aliens or Terminator over the dark knight any day of the week, an overrated movie in my opinion

Cameron's still better at writing sequels when there's an established world and mythology. I don't expect things to be any different with the Avatar franchise.

Yeah Cameron has always come back stronger, every one said Avatar and Titanic would crash and burn badly, well look how that turned out

Avatar and True Lies were not as good as Titanic or Terminator, but what are you going to do?

It could be that Cameron makes a generic movie with Avatar 2, anything is possible, but his odds of making something great are high. In contrast, the odds of Marvel / DC / Abrams Wars making something great are quite frankly close to zero.

I'm watching Aliens right now, the director's cut, and the first action scene begins seventy one minutes into the movie. SEVENTY ONE minutes, and none of it is boring or comes off as exposition dumps. Marvel/DC/Abrams as they are currently couldn't make a movie like that if their lives depended on it.

Swing and a miss with that statement.

I doubt he goes the generic route, and what will Abrams will do with Star Wars? who the hell knows, until i see footage i wont speculate on that. I have faith he can pull off something really great, but will see what happens.

I think DC would have more balls to pull a movie like that, Marvel has found its formula and no way in hell they will change what works.

I saw your name on the forum list and I knew you'd come in and make a substance-free statement just attacking another poster who had not spoken to you.

A week ago I decided to give you another chance but you remain unworthy. Welcome back to my ignore list.

For a supposed guy with a PHD, you're a sensitive one with your opinions, aren't you? :funny: It's a joke. Learn to take one.

Wait...Were you expecting everyone to agree with you with your statement, and not challenge you? And...In Parker's defense, what he said was pretty mild. But to put him on the 'ignore list'?

I can assure you no one here gives a crap whether they're deemed "worthy" in your eyes. You're not that important. Please put me on ignore too. Hell, put the whole Hype on ignore.
