Regarding to how Vol.2 was and how good Ragnarok compared to that, I wasn’t too sad.
I hope it will be more like the first movie - hope the long hiatus will be good for better quality

I would not be surprised if this was always the plan and they waited until the Fox-Disney stuff was a totally done deal.

I am told by one friend that is precisely the case.

Yeah, I think Eternals is supposed to start shooting towards the end of the year.

This is how I think the slate is looking post Far From Home
2020: Black Widow and Eternals
2021: Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, Shang-Chi and probably Spidey 3
2022: Captain Marvel 2, Guardians 3 and maybe Ant-Man 3

Feige did mention that they could start to do 4 movies a year. If Sony really wants a Spider-Man movie every other year then we more than likely will get 4 in 2021

Comedically Ragnorak probably works a little better than GOTG2 but as far moments with real emotional impact, GOTG2 owns Ragnorak up one side and down the other.

I thought Ragnorak was wildly entertaining. It just didnt have anything that came close to matching the best emotional beats of GotG2 like Quill finding the strength to fight back against Ego when all seems lost (and The Chain by Fleetwood Mac kicks in), or Yondu's sacrifice. And of course his funeral.

I in know way meant to imply that I thought Ragnorak sucked.

Completely agree, they both had similar levels of comedy but when the emotional moments hit they really hit in Guardians. While Ragnarok, which had plenty potential moments, fell fairly flat. That's my only real criticism from that film.

Guardians 2 emotional moments are definitely better but I feel Ragnarok is still the better balanced film overall. Still love vol.2 though.

Guardians 2 is an odd movie for me because I really connected with the big emotional beats, but I didn't like a lot of the comedy. Not in the sense of hating it, but I found it to be a little repetitive and forced.

The moments with Yondu were great, though, and some of the related scenes.

Ragnarok, by contrast, I found to be genuinely hilarious on a consistent basis, but it was basically a parody a lot of the time, with emotional beats that fell flat. Maybe not completely, but they weren't much more than serviceable.
