This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]543771[/split]
!!!You do realize this franchise was inevitably going to go on without him at some point regardless of him being forced out.
!!!
Why are some people acting like he's irreplaceable?
Did you read the letter? No one wants to be associated with what he said.I would have loved it if instead of the letter, the main cast would have reposted Gunn's controversial tweets on their account to force Disney to fire them all.

People in here talking about how James Gunn is essential to GOTG and how he is the DNA of the franchise and I'm just sat here thinking "Did the same crew that made the first movie work on the second? Because it doesn't look like it. The first one was cool and charming, vol. 2 was just, eh...".
James Gunn is not essential to GOTG.

So I guess we know the first scene of Vol 3 will be a backside shot in dark silhouette of the Guardians walking into a building and it getting blown up.
I don't think this is gonna end well for this cast. Also telling that Feige is awfully quiet.
Black made the best one?Well, we saw what happened with Iron Man 3...
To be fair, I think Feige is in a no win position. He's not publicly gonna advocate for Gunn and oppose his boss over Gunn. He's got clout now, but not that much clout. He may agree with the cast but he's ultimately accountable to Disney and he's not gonna rail against them over one director even if a lot of fandom wants him to.
I actually think the cast did the best thing they could do with the open letter. They show the fans they support them while not being belligerent and demanding of Disney. Had they issued threats and tried to force Disney's hand , then I think it would be 50/50 as to whether Disney would give in or cann everybody.
But that's the thing: they are being passive aggressive and going against a decision that their company made. So in writing this open letter, they pretty much are forcing Disney's hand. Like some people said, it would be one thing if this was the Avengers cast that spoke out, but this group got lucky and doesn't have the clout of their peers. They're playing with their money.
We'll see what happens but it wouldn't shock me if Disney/Marvel makes an example out of them. Especially when they have Fantastic Four and X-Men on the horizon, they can be replaced.
