That said , if WB does actually have their stuff together this time and lets Gunn make the film he wants to make , I definitely think Gunn could bring his own unique take to the SS.

Oh I saw that. I 've also seen Ben Affleck directing the Batman , Flashpoint, The Batgirl movie, etc. I'm not saying the news is fake. I'm saying given WB's history of fumbling the ball, I'll wait until Gunn is literally filming the film before I'm convinced its happening.

Frankly, anyone following WBs development of DC projects over the past several years shouldn't find my statement controversial.

He did much more than that, he accused Leto of being a creep. Oh, the irony.

I suspect Leto, like Cavill and Affleck are pretty much gone anyway as far as WB is concerned, so having Gunn there won't be an issue from their POV.

I really enjoyed having Gunn in the MCU, but I won't watch SS. I have never liked the thought of that group. No iteration of them has been good for me.

Good for WB to hire Gunn for SS2, because the first one was a mess. But while I like James Gunn, I think the difference between GOTG and GOTG Vol. 2 is that in the first movie he had a co-writer (Nicole Perlman), who probably helped strengthening the script, but in Vol. 2 when Gunn is the sole writer, the movie definitely lacks certain focus and hurt some scenes. I wonder which GOTG movie will SS2 emulate with Gunn being the writer and the director.

Gunn had commented that Guardians 3 was supposed to usher in a whole new Marvel. Wherever A4 leaves off Guardians was supposed to pick up and push forward. so that tells you how vital it was. Makes one think since the production start date is now the time the move was supposed to be out what movie in the MCU will now take over those story elements that were supposed to be so important. Those things that Guardians 3 was supposed to do, probably still need to happen, so they'll likely shift into another movie, question is which one? --- or do u think they went ahead and used A4 to do those things. If the ended really was being shot over the reshoot period I'm sure the took into account that Guardians wouldn't be right afterwards so it's possibly those changes tie into to that. It's all pure conjecture of course, but that's the fun of it.

If he directed the film he'd have to do the promotion of it. Interviews all around the world. The press would be talking about him, the film and the tweets. You would have organisations like mothers of america calling for a boycott and staging demonstrations and disney's name would be spoken in the same sentence as paedophilia. Which would possibly damage their brand. Using his script wont bring any of that as he had been fired.

I think you pretty much nailed it. It's easier to just say "Hey, written by James Gunn" then for him to do the press tour for it and have his name all around the project by directing.

I just hope we find out who is going to direct instead soon
