James Newton Howard will score GREEN LANTERN

I wouldn't put HP in the 'iconic theme category' but the others? Yeah. Seriously doubt he'd do it though.

i srsly doubt hed do it too which is a shame.
and off-topic, rly not HP? too each his own i suppose.

Williams is semi-retired though, right?

Hasnt he said he'd only score Speilberg films from now on?

I think he's contractually obligated for the last 2 HP films and then that's it except for Spielberg films as far as I know.

Nice one; thanks Kedrell.

So, yeah, he's pretty much out of the running I wouldve thought.

yea i love williams stuff but i dont think he should be doing any more superhero movies he has done enough and like others have said he is pretty much speilberg's go to guy and all that. That is why i rather have someone with new blood doing these new hero movies. So we have a chance for some new and different stuff.

Steve Jablonsky or David Arnold.

I always think of GL when I hear the ID4 music.

What about the MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is no one talking about this?????? this is serious!!
THE NEW DIVIDE by Linking Park is a very good song, I think GL will need something equally powerfull, so the movie dont suck.
I already discuss this in the GL Concerns thread, because i am very concern.
ANY SUGGESTIONS???? I really think they should go with power metal.

how about no soundtrack? Like the new Batman Franchise and the superman films?

Stay focused on telling a good story and having a great film instead of lame merchandise prospects.

Although, I do occasionally cry myself to sleep listening to R. Kelly's Gotham City.....

They have soundtracks. It would be foolish not to since that is just another facet of your revenue stream.

yea there is many ways they can go with this. it could just be a full on musical score for whole film, to opening/closing scores and a few others mixed with popular music either played in a scene or two, or just in the closing credits. I am sure it will probably be like spider-man series probably have a song or two in a scene or playing in background of a scene. but then majority of the film is just musical scores. Then songs in credits.

John Williams has not been contractually obligated to score the final two HP films, and he will not score Part One (French composer Alexandre Desplat will do that). The producers have been talking to him about coming in for Part Two, but that's pretty much it.

Who will score GREEN LANTERN?
I'm assuming Carrol Ferris will.
Oh, you meant the soundtrack! Yeah... Sorry.

I dont know much about OSTs or composers, i just know the composers of some of the superhero movies whose music i enjoyed. So my favourite Superhero soundtracks are from Zimmer (Begins), Jablonsky (Transformers), and Elfman (Batman). But Elfman is kinda old school now, so i'll take one of the first two.
Preferably Jablosky since i liked how he used a choir (is that the right term?) in some parts of the TF soundtrack. I mean, when you re telling the story of a legendary corps, you need a choir to give that legendary feeling. I certainly felt that for the autobots.

Soundtrack and Score.

There is a difference, my friend.

I vote for Howard Shore. What he did in the Lord of the Rings films was EPIC and I think his style would be a good fit for the GL film(s).

Howard Shore has the advantage of scoring Campbell's last film, Edge of Darkness, and with his reputation scoring fantasy epics (the Lord of the Rings films), it is very likely he'll get the scoring gig.

I would love for Clinton Shorter to get the gig. He scored District 9 and he composed a wonderfully energetic score. However, the likelihood is very dim that he'll get chosen. I say it'll either be a cross between Shore or David Arnold.

Id like to see what Mansell could do with the epic score

Michael Giacchino.
Close thread. :o
Make it happen, Warner Bros.

how about someone just humming throughout the entire movie?

I vote Graeme Revell. he's done superheroes before (Daredevil, The Crow) and alot of his other ''fantasical" setting-type films music sounds like it could be superhero-ish

I honestly don't know if Shore will get the gig. John Corligiano was the original composer for EoD and had recorded the entire score before the WB made Campbell recut and re-shoot the movie. Corligiano was unavailable to rescore it, so they brought in Shore to compose and record a new replacement score. I have no idea whether Campbell decided on Shore or whether the studio did.

I'm almost willing to bet Campbell will pick one composer he's already familiar with. James Horner, David Arnold, Eric Serra, James Newton Howard or Howard Shore. Unless the studio "decides" on the composer for him.

yea its very likely it will be someone he has worked with before. since alot of these director's like to surround their films with the folks they best work with.
