‘Swamp Thing’: Jeryl Prescott of ‘Walking Dead’ Joins DC Series As Madame Xanadu

The new adaptation of Swamp Thing has added Jeryl Prescott as a cast regular in the role of Madame Xanadu, a blind fortune teller with a mysterious past and supernatural perceptions that reveal the future.

Prescott is familiar to horror fans for role as Jacqui in the landmark first season of The Walking Dead and also as the spectral Mama Cecile, the long-dead hoodoo practitioner who haunts a Louisiana plantation in The Skeleton Key (2005). Her credits also include Ray Donovan, Nate Parker’s Birth of a Nation, NCIS Los Angeles, Scandal, Castle, Battle Creek, Parks and Recreation and Modern Family.
Prescott’s upcoming appearances include Dead Women Walking (which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival) and High Flying Bird, Steven Soderbergh’s next feature film.

Cool. Hoping we get casting for Alec Holland next.

First thing I thought after looking at the following image was why she didn't just simply play Abigail Crane?

I doubt Swamp Thing would care if she's 57. He looks way worse for wear.

No thank you :funny:

Crystal Reed is a much better fit for the character.

‘Swamp Thing’ Finds Its Swamp Thing, Sets Andy Bean & Derek Mears For Roles

andy-bean-alec-holland-derek-mears-swamp-thing.jpg

DC Universe’s upcoming Swamp Thing series is continuing to cast up, setting Power‘s Andy Bean to play biologist Alec Holland, who in the DC mythology as created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson transforms into the titular creature. Derek Mears, who played another horror icon Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th reboot, will play the bog monster.

The streaming series, which hails from James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros Television, is set to premiere in 2019 on the DC Universe digital subscription service.

The plot centers on Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Bean’s Holland is caught in the cross-hairs when he discovers the mystery may connected to his work in the swamp. That leads him into conflict with dark forces, from which he emerges as the elemental hero known as Swamp Thing. As the monster (Mears) struggles to hold onto his humanity, he must embrace what he has become in order to defend the town as well as the natural world at large.

Yes finally lol.

Not super well-versed in Swamp Thing, so I'm gonna wager a guess that Bean's presence will be mostly flashbacks/fantasy sequences?

‘Riverdale’ Actor Henderson Wade Joins ‘Swamp Thing’ Cast As Matt Cable

Riverdale and Extant actor Henderson Wade is joining the cast of Swamp Thing in the series regular role of Matt Cable, a Louisiana lawman who finds himself in dire straits when supernatural evil threatens the town he’s sworn to protect.

Wade also wore a badge on six episodes of The CW’s Riverdale this season in the role of Sheriff Michael Minetta. The Washington, D.C., native and Syracuse University graduate also portrayed Adhu, the son of Molly Woods (Halle Berry) in six episodes of Extant. Wade’s other credits include: The Last Ship, American Horror Story: Roanoke, NCIS and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.

The character of Matt Cable has a long history in the pages of DC Comics. He was introduced the first issue of Swamp Thing in 1972 (as a federal agent in that incarnation) and assigned to protect scientist Alec Holland. Cable fails in that assignment and blames a mysterious bog monster called Swamp Thing is responsible for Holland’s fiery death. That begins a long and twisting history between Cable, the creature and Abby Arcane.

The character of Cable has been reframed for the new Swamp Thing supernatural horror series that will premiere in 2019 as core original programming from DC Universe, the just-launched subscription streaming site from Warner Bros Digital Networks.

The log line says the show will follow Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) as she returns to her rural hometown on a mission: “Abby investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets.” Abby has history with the son of Sheriff Lucilla Cable — she was young Matt’s childhood crush.
