Jason Bourne

Hoping for the best with this movie. It should deliver, I think.

Gonna be hard to top Ultimatum or even potentially the first two.

Bourne (not counting Legacy) was the rare series where the third chapter was possible the strongest. It'd be easy to see how a 4th could potentially drop the ball somewhat from there.

The thing about Bourne is that he also usually off on his own most of the time. So he has no one to really talk to anyway.

Bourne was never a talker, he was a doer, the main difference to Bond who had all the glib smooth talk.

He kicks ass without taking names.

Damn, no reviews yet.....is that a potentially worrying sign?

Here I'd say no. As others have said this might be the final Bourne film, as such I doubt they would want any spoilers leaking out about it. Might be a Mad Max Fury Road scenario.

Is that really the intention or is that going to be based on its BO?

I think Ultimatum was really the best send-off for the trilogy in that there wasn't a need to have a firm conclusion chapter because that one was almost perfect.

This doesn't seem to be marketed as a "final goodbye", so i think they want to do more if people are willing to pay.

Unsure. But the word "final" has been tossed around online. And Damon is already talking about recasting the role. To me, it sounds like they had an idea for a final story they wanted to tell and thus came back for that story. While the studio may be leaving it more open than Damon currently seems to be because if it does well they're probably planning to try to buy him to be in another.

It would be nice if this movie ends with a bit more finality. I didn't exactly care for the ending in Ultimatum, even though that movies my favorite of the bunch. It was too much of a 24-esque, "see you in 12 months for the next chapter!" kinda thing when you knew at the time that wasn't happening.

Agreed, Identity is my favourite, but I always found the ending to Ultimatum disappointing and it brings the movie down for me.

I mean I like the idea of the bad guys getting what was coming to them (although Legacy kind of undoes that in a way that, although I don't hate that movie like some others do, really didn't ring true to me). But Bourne himself, Didn't get a closed ending at the end of Ultimatum.

I still think that it's the best of the original trilogy overall though.

I have to wonder if them casting The Rock to play a Ludlum character is part of laying the groundwork for phasing out Damon?

It's that but it's just also wanting to start their own universe franchise again and ideally, see Damon and the Rock meet up. A nice back up when the Universal monsters model fails which it will.

Damon and Rock would be such a bizarre team-up that it could end up really awesome.

I am hyped for this movie (a fan of the Damon trilogy) and I honestly didn't expect it to start at 57% on RT...

Watched the original trilogy many years ago, but i barely anything of what happened in Supremacy in Ultimatum. Wasn't the plot pretty much the same in all the three films? It's always Bourne being followed by the government, striking back at those who were pursuing him and then going into hiding again.

Oh dear. How could it be worse than Legacy? No wonder I wasn't digging the trailers and TV spots.
