Jay Hernandez IS El Diablo

Definitely! Chato is a character that is all about redemption. I wonder if they went with the whole being possessed by a spirit of vengeance or just made him a meta human. I feel like the latter is easier to incorporate in a movie, especially since Echantress already went down that route.

Someone on Facebook claimed to have went to an early screening and what he said about Diablo has me eager to see the movie now.

I also really look forward to Diablo. I really hope he survives since he's a mainstay in the new 52 and he is my favorite behind Harley, Deadshot and Boomerang. Beside more hispanic characters makes me happy :)

I haven't been able to read new ss yet, but is he still alive there?

Hoping he sticks around as well. I'm a fan of super-characters with actual super-powers (and not just 'he shoots people' or 'she's just crazy'), so he's pretty much the big draw for me.

The flame effects look great, in the trailers. Hopefully we get to see more than the couple shots they've used so far.

Yeah me too. His fire powers look really awesome! I feel like he has tons of potential as well. Maybe we'll see the masked version pop up somewhere.

As for the comics, he tends to die and be brought back to life a lot! I believe he will be in the rebirth Suicide Squad that's coming out soon. Its basically the movie line-up.

Tell me this does not look sick!!! Haha so cool!!!

Haha yeah he is xD I think Diablo is going to surprise a lot of people. His powers are already impressive! He's definitely coming off this movie with more popularity and hopefully that leads to more appearances in the comics.

Dude that is an awesome cover!! I have a feeling Diablo is going to surprise everyone in this movie!!

Don't know if this is a re-edit for the new trailer, but check the flaming skull construct! .

Hopefully this for the first time indicates that Diablo has retained some of his supernatural powers like the comic, maybe even hints of hell-fire "constructs" ? Rather than just straight pyrokinetic?
Is that what he sees in Digger? His fate perhaps? A projection of himself?

Also looks like we will get at least a hint of backstory for him...
Chato Santana is doing some serious penance?

Think he will definitely be one of the more sympathetically yet tragic characters, as things play out.

If I remember his powers come from a demon.

Yes they do.
In the comics he has more supernatural powers, and can do hell-fire constructs and weapons etc...
Until now in the trailers we've only seen pyrokinetic powers, until now.
Hence my point, I hope they are drifting closer to the comic.

Well El Diablo is sort of like DC's Ghost Rider. I'm excited at the prospect of him doing hell-fire constructs!! Can't wait for this film!!

Im excited to finally have a Latino superhero (villain/anti-hero) on the big screen!!

Yep. Both Ghost Rider and El Diablo were originaly old west comic characters who later got a more supernatural interpretation.

I was talking about the image added to that footage. I think that, maybe, it's Ghost Rider from Agents of SHIELD.

Oh my bad, I mis-interpreted your comment. The image looks cool though. Can't wait for this movie

I made the gif straight from the new trailer

Also DC's El Diablo predates Marvel's supernatural Ghost Rider, who started off as just a guy dressed in the phosphorescent costume

El Diablo from DC's Weird Western was supernatural from the get go...

His most recent incarnation is Chato Santana. Who yes in the comics is supernatural.
Hence my comments...

Since the image above is the FIRST indication that he can do more than be a human blow-torch, but could actually be controlling and channeling something more supernatural.

I didn't know the original version of Diablo was supernatural. I thought he was DC's version of Zorro based on the costume.

It seems that El Diablo is getting some praise in the reviews. Too bad that one of the spoilers is [BLACKOUT]that he dies.[/BLACKOUT]

I've seen a lot of reviews say Diablo might turn out to be a lot of people's favorite Squad member, and from the spoilers I can see why! Hopefully it translates to more popularity and usage in the comics because as of right now he's DC's most known Latino character (arguments could be made for Blue Beetle and Bane tho).

As for that spoiler up above, well Chato is supernatural :)

As for me he's the weakest actor (sorry). But being the one of all the squad with supernatural skills it's too bad that [blackout]they killed him[/blackout]

I see how others might have liked him and thought of him as the surprise breakout character, but he came across really plot-devicey to me.

I really liked him.

Him, deadshot and Harley were my favorites.

Jay did a great job with what he had. His arc is good on paper, but it's executed pretty poorly executed (probably a result of the terrible editing on this film), and makes his big moment feel a bit unearned. Still, Jay imbued him with a lot of pathos and I understand why people consider him a standout. I enjoyed him.
