So I've ben out all day just got home, anything new? Actually never mind. Still most people crying and feeling like they've been betrayed? I just figured that's how it still is.

Not really. People seem mostly calm now.

It's a nice change that both Alfred and Lex Luthor are younger than their previous versions.

Having a younger actor as Lex is better as he will be able to get more character arc.

I think he could easily look much like that picture and I hope he does.

I've calmed down somewhat although I'm still massively disappointed.

I could have bought a 30 year old Luthor if Bruce was 30 years old. But having Luthor be an arrogant kid just feels wrong to me. Plus I'm going to find it hard to get past the voice. I thought Affleck's voice was going to be hard to stomach.

I guess my unease boils down to this. It makes me want to root for Lex Luthor.

This skinny nerdy awkward guy who built himself up to become the master of Metropolis and the financial king of North America. So he killed a few people to get there. I'll forgive that.

Then this Superman comes in. Typical dumb jock with his genetic abilities who swoops in knocking down Luthor's buildings and destroying his city.

It's like the classic high school drama. The hard working nerd vs the popular jock who never worked for what he has.

Then it feels even worse when you compare Lex to Batman.

A 30 year old billionaire who worked hard for everything he has.

VS

A 40 year old silver spoon born to the manor guy who's STILL not over his parents being murdered after 34 years so he embezzles resources from his family's company to beat up psychiatric patients.

Mrs. Kent my dear, don't be playing me now! Don't be playing me for a fool! :oldrazz: Haha. Good, about time people calmed down.

lol, it's true. The much maligned nerd rage wasn't as biblical as some predicted. Nerds can be a civilized folk. :oldrazz:

So the prophecies of nerdom are true, some CAN calm down and live normal lives. While others rage on for eternity :woot::oldrazz:

It all depends on how each of these characters is characterized in the movie. There could be additional character development which makes things more believable. And maybe the audience and Metropolis are supposed to root for Lex until they find out who he really is.

Isn't that what makes it interesting? Despite being someone you're almost wanting to root for, he's still way in the wrong in terms of how he goes about. Its pretty classic, most recently geniusly depicted in breaking bad.

After thinking about this and my initial surprise at this casting, I actually think it could be genius.

Lex is a brainiac (ahem :cwink:) so it sort of makes sense that he will look a bit geeky, plus, Eisenberg has given some very good performances in his career. Think this could another Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach type casting.

I rather his hair be buzzed like thatpaulallen's manip here

this is pretty much perfect for Eisenberg. He looks like a believable child prodigy. And it respects the bald look without stepping into creepy territory.

I'm really excited for this Lex if that's what they're going for. The modern 30 something internet billionaire type.

His youth will also play into the fact that it will more easily make Superman appear as the bad guy who is harassing 'on of their own' for no reason.

they need to make it so that so that the youthful and those who look up to Lex for his early succes start hating on Superman because of how he treats Lex.

Lex Luthor has also inherited his family business and he was born rich too.

I think that Jesse E will be amazing. I like him as witty characters.
I was also thinking about how Snyder has experience casting those Rich Super Geniuses that straddle the line between good and evil.

Ozymandias is probably in my top 3 favorite movie villains.

Wise only sees the bad side of this project, even when he tries to pretend to see the good side.

I know, I know I'm a ***** for calling out another poster but it's hard for me to keep my yap shut.

I agree with you about the Breaking Bad depiction but my point is that I shouldn't want to root for Lex Luthor in a movie that has Superman and Batman in it.

How does that make you uneasy ? Sounds great to me. I wanna root for Lex in this movie. Make superman look like the unreasonable bully at first.

I think that part of the beauty of this Lex will be that some of the things he says about and uses against superman will have some basis in reality after the events of MOS. Lex won't look like a loon for saying the things he says. He will have supporters. It's part of the reason why I really wanted Lex in this movie. It's the ideal time for him to be introduced because Superman is vulnerable.

I pretend to see the good side?

I'm thrilled about the production designer, the writer, the DOP. Even Snyder. I love Watchmen and 300 and Dawn of the Dead.

I'm gonna go see this film because I think it'll look visually stunning. Just like how MoS looked.

But I'm not happy about Superman being robbed of his chance to have his own Spiderman 2 or The Dark Knight because Warner Brothers missed the shared universe train years ago and are scrambling to catch up.

Affleck. Yes I openly admit that bothers me. Mainly it's his age and voice.

Gadot? I challenge you to find a post where i criticise her casting.

It's just Eisenberg and Affleck that I'm not on board with.

I have a right to be here and debate my concerns. People said I was a basher for voicing my concerns about Parralax being in Green Lantern's origin story and Reynolds being cast as Hal.

I also never complained about Ledger because I saw how he could play a scrappy Australian roughneck and then an English knight and a homosexual cowboy. I was behind that.

I don't dislike Affleck or Eisenberg as actors. I even like seeing them in roles.

I just don't see them being capable of playing the characters that I love.

I never thought it was necessary that he be bald, but I definitely believe he needs to have a more professional haircut than the (pardon my french) "Jew fro" he has sported in all of his roles thus far.

With that being said this actually looks surprisingly good.

Secondly I'm not saying he needs to train like a maniac and get huge or shredded but putting a little bit of meat on his bones by eating in a caloric surplus and training a few times a week would really help sell the portrayal for me and I'm sure many others.

A older, more established, popular Lex Luthor against Superpowered alien (Superman) sounds a lot more cliched than Supes facing a aggressive younger Luthor. (IMO.)

This is a better direction with Lex character.

For people who like the casting of Eisenberg as Lex, do you actually like this choice, or do you have faith that the movie will make it work somehow?

Ozymandias is probably in my top 3 favorite movie villains.

And in some ways he isn't a villain, very much like Lex.

I'm just imagining waking up tomorrow and hearing the news that Jesse has already begun training with mark twight..uhh that would make my day.

I support the direction they are taking with the character like Lex Luthor, though I am not really happy with the casting choice.
