And then people would be complaining that they were the "safe and predictable" route, you can bank on that. And again, I point out the last trailer, where most of his dialogue was much more creepy/sinister, as was his line to Lois here. So people, surprise surprise for fanboys, are making A LOT of assumptions.

This seems to be a movie where "dual identities" is a running theme, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Lex has one as well, in a sense.

No....YOU would have complained on that.....most would be like "Hey it's cool when characters look like the comics" or the very popular cartoons, as much as possible.

Sorry , but I wasnt looking for freaking Tiny Tim....

But hey...I'll still be there with my hard earned cash!

Y'know, I kind of dig eccentric Lex, especially since they've made it clear he's both a businessman and a mad scientist, not just one or the other, and he's not just a delusional criminal mastermind. This is a guy going full on Dr. Frankenstein to create Doomsday, while running a multi-billion dollar empire, and it's implied he's actively manipulating both heroes into a confrontation. He can be eccentric here because he at least has the cajoles to back up everything.

And I don't need him to transform into a serious character, or reveal he was all along. That could work, mind you, but having him manically assert his world vision on someone else can work well too.

And I love the idea that Bruce doesn't take him seriously yet.

I wonder if Lex is going to kill Senator Finch.

I'll be curious to see if there's any truth to that rumor about Eisenberg having a role in Suicide Squad come next year.

Yeah, I think that Lex is going to kill Finch, though he may not "pull the trigger" himself, it will be because of his plan, or it will be PART of his plan let's say.

If the rumor is true that something happens in that senate hearing I think that is where she will die.

That reminds me I absolutely need to see this version of Lex and Joker interact before I go.

The scenes they showed remind me of Riddler from Batman Forever :)

After going back and watching the Comic Con trailer, it's even more obvious now that Lex was just trolling in the most recent trailer.

This. We know they said that public Lex is a facade. He's the devil in plain sight because he's masking his megalomania with a avuncular fidgety nerd persona. People seem to be concentrating on the scene he's in with our heroes' alter egos and not on the rest of his lines in the trailer.

Wasn't it revealed that they were actually courting Joaquin Phoenix for the role, but he ultimately turned it down.

I believe so.

I would have loved to have seen him as Luthor.

The Riddler or Jimmy Olsen :o

Oh please he was obviously going to be Toyman and he was going to fight Superman and Batman with a giant mechanical spider. :o

i posted in another thread how there's more to Lex than meets the eye

wasn't a big fan of his over the top display in the most recent trailer, but the CC trailer showed a more sinister side that is closer to his true character i believe. and there was also an interview with Eisenberg where he states that what he liked about the Lex he plays is all these layers there are to him, so there's definitely more going on that will be saved for the actual movie

I liked Eisenberg's performance in the trailer just want him to show his more serious manipulative side too.

I found it to be a very smart scene with Clark, Lex and Bruce at the party. A meeting of their "public" personas.
We have seen Clark and Bruce in action as Superman and batman, now we need to wait to see Lex as Lex.

I love our Lex! He's got the perfect blend of witty public disguise along with cold, calculating, manipulating and mad genius in the background.

He will be the one clearly manipulating public opinion and State opinion against Supes and when that wont work, and Batman won't kill Supes, he goes 'psychotic' cos HE CAN'T LOSE, and not to an alien who he sees as a barrier to human potential.

Also, the core characteristic of Lex from the comics is FINALLY being shown on screen (Smallville was close), the one where he wants to be the ultimate being on the planet through his intellect and can't stand it when Supes takes his limelight and thunder away.

It was never the quest for just power, for just fame or for freaking REAL ESTATE (lol XD) but his real motive was to the be the ultimate herald of humanity and to make things in this world how HE sees fit.

He is the Ozymandias of the DC Universe, he spits in the face of Gods and will do anything to bring them down. And I have a strong feeling we are getting that true Lex this time.

About his looks,

He might not look anything like the animated series Lex which is what most people have in their minds, but he is DAMN close to the Lex from Birthright. Just look at that >

Now look how scrawny he looks next to Supes here >

And how his face here almost exactly matches our bald Lex pic >

^ Those are some great comparison pics, LamboMan.

Also, I love that even though we know Lex will go bald in this film at some point, we haven't seen any such footage. It'll make for a great treat watching it for the first time on the big screen, especially considering how different Eisenberg looks without his hair.

I'm afraid that is because it's his last scene in the movie.

Except Bruce is a good 15 years older than him and is one of the top 5 most formidable human warriors on the planet.

Oh and as for Antman. Corey Stoll would have been a bloody fantastic Lex. In fact all throughout Ant Man I was pissed off because I wanted him and Eisenberg to switch places.

Jesse's whacky weirdo hipster *****e would have been more suited to Antman.

I agree with the image. Serious, muscular bald men are about a dime a dozen when it comes to villain representation, sadly. It was fine for Luthor back in the day, but the casting of Jesse Eisenberg embodies something intrinsically unique and curious.

Noone is saying that Lex has to be muscular. Even though he's sometimes a beefcake in the comics, that isn't a hallmark of his character.

Hell I wouldn't mind if he wasn't bald. I just wish they had cast someone who wasn't so effeminate and awkward.
