I missed some of the brief dialogue right before Jimy was shot. I know he says something that he works for the CIA. Now, I know people are upset how they threw Jimmy's character away like that. But, I wonder if that really wasn't Jimmy Olsen. What if he was just a regular cia agent and they just used Jimmy's name because he works with Lois?

Just throwing this out there.

Snyder himself confirmed it was Jimmy Olsen.

I think I'm just desensitized to the disappointment.

Couldn't care less about this really. It's just another inconsequential thing for people to rip Snyder about.

Yesterday, somebody actually criticized Snyder for a book that can apparently be seen in Bruce Wayne's study. This is only the beginning.

I need confirmation on this.

So remember the North Africa sequence at the beginning of the movie, where Amy Adams’ Lois Lane is investigating something or other and her coworker turns out to be a CIA agent using her as cover? That CIA agent, played by The O.C. actor Michael Cassidy, is in fact Jimmy Olsen. He’s listed that way in the credits, and in speaking with EW, director Zack Snyder confirms the character’s identity and explains why he was dispatched with in such a shockingly dark way:

“We just did it as this little aside because we had been tracking where we thought the movies were gonna go, and we don’t have room for Jimmy Olsen in our big pantheon of characters, but we can have fun with him, right?”

Even when Superman comes back it's looking like the Clark Kent persona will stay dead. With no Clark Jimmy becomes redundant or at the very least, non vital. Stop making a big deal out of a minor thing.

It's a malicious, stupid thing to do. The kind of move a *****ebag teenager would think was cool and edgy, but the rest of us think is an unnecessary and pathetic undermining of an important part of Superman's mythology for the sake of shock value.

This didn't bother me in the least. I just find it funny how he's barely ever been in another movie yet apparently he's this legendary Superman character we should all be yearning for. They really didn't need this character, and they could also just easy retcon this whole thing.

Snyder's excuse is *****ey "cause what hell why not right guys?!?!?!?!" But overall I do not care as will neither 98% of the audience.

Superman fans calling Jimmy Olsen a "minor thing".

A character who has been Clark's BFF for 75 years.

One of the main sources of positivity and humour in Superman stories.

Shot in the head

And you think it's a "minor thing"?

Yeah and its not like you have to do Olsen as some 50s sidekick.

All star superman portayed him in a maturr and modern way.

It's because we're still in the denial phase.

Nothing is wrong with this movie! It's the perfect representation of the DC universe!

Like you didn't know the kid character of Jimmy Olsen has been begging to be reimagined as a CIA Operative who gets shot at point blank range for decade. It's so dark and edgy. Snyder understand the true spirit of the Superman comics

You mean the same fans that love Batmurder and Sadman and think Snyder is a genius? Yeah I can see it. That's Zack's target demographic.

Can easily be retconned and no outside of Superman fans not many care.

Absolutely. Give it a few months and pretty much everyone defending this movie will have come around. The natural impulse when you're a fan is to defend, defend, defend, especially when you've invested so much time and energy into something. It's understandable. Doesn't make it any more right though. This movie is a ***** show, and the more time that goes by, the more people will just accept it.

Because they don't know. Jimmy is a very popular part of the mythos with the GA.

Aren't you even slightly alarmed that Snyder thinks this is appropriate? Why don't we just make Ma Kent a stripper in the next one? That's edgy too. She loses her job at the diner and has to dance to make money! We're growing the heroes up!

When you say 'it's looking like', where does this come from?

I'd be really disappointed if this is true :(

Yeah, too f**king true, and so, so sad. That's his target demographic, and that's why he keeps getting work.

Yeah, I will say this may be the one really negative thing I can say about the film (or at least, the one thing I can think of at the moment). Snyder's decision to just throw away this character like that was just, really DUMB. It's not a fun little thing for fans to wink wink at; it's stupidity. Jimmy Olsen is not a minor character or a mere Easter Egg. He happens to be one of Clark's closest friends and colleagues! If you don't have room for him in the movie, then don't include him at all!

Jesus, Snyder! :cmad: :down

Sorry, end of rant.

The excuse is worrying yes I completely admit. I hate that mentality but it's also a small enough character to also not be an issue. And Jimmy Olsen is in no way popular with the GA.
