JL Casting Call Update

yeah GL's a hard one. I'm more of a Hal Jordan guy (might get me in trouble but I think Kyle is an attempt to have a "spiderman average young guy with problems" type GL.

Johnny Lee Miller (with brown hair) maybe? Val Kilmer? A younger dennis quaid?

Edit: actually what about that guy from Desperate Housewives or Mark Harmon?

What about Denzel for GL? He said he wants to play a super hero. Marvel has been getting A caliber actors so why is the WB settling for D list actors?! Freakin oscar winners are in Marvel's and they want to do Avengers so why is WB obsessed with unknowns?! Get the guy who plays the part best! But due to the success of IM I'm willing to bet THIS WEEK we will hear something from the WB! You heard me say it webhead! This week WB will make a move becuase I honestly believe they were waiting to see the success of IM.

hopefully we do hear something that would be nice, but likely wb is going to wait to say anything on the dc films untill after SAG but if they were to say anything this coming week that would be sweet.

Jamie Bamber as Hal Jordan.

Common as John Stewart.

Sean Willian Scott as Guy Gardner.

Milo Ventimiglia as Kyle Rayner.

Stephen McHattie as Alan Scott.

Green Lantern is definitely a hard pick, but if they go with John Stewart I have a few guys in mind that I think would do an amazing job:

Henry Simmons (best known for playing on NYPD Blue), or Gary Dourdan (Warrick Brown on CSI)

And Common is kind of growing on me after hearing his name mentioned so much.

For Hal Jordan I know he might be a bit old for the role but I think he could pull it off and I wanted him several years ago for him to play the part, and I think Christopher Meloni (47) would do a fantastic job, but perhaps his age has most likely eliminated him, and I should think of somebody else =(

Armie Hammer is playing Billy Graham the famous preacher in a movie called Billy: The early years which is filming really close to where i live. In the town of Watertown in Tennessee, thought that was interesting:brucebat:

Yet another sign that J.L. is dead ( in the current form anyway)
Maybe W.B. will look at marvel, see what their planning, and finally get off their duffs and make some c.b. films other than Batman and Supes. They'd be crazy not too.

Well we have know he was working on this film for awhile and we have seen a few photos of him on that film set. As others said yea miller's jla is likely dead and buried and hopefully we get some good news that wb still wants to do the film and we get a better cast, and a more suited director and get the film moving in the right direction and all that.

The question is though, who would be better suited to direct a J.L. film??
I wouldnt want just any director mind you, I'd want someone that knows how to do action AND drama.

That cool. Is Graham that tall at 6' 5" like Armie? :p

And how far is Watertown from Johnson City, flash13? My brother live in JC for awhile before he move back to NC. We live like 2 hours from it. :)

Well, I'd say the July shoot is now definitely 100% off (though most already figured that). Last week was Palmer's signing on to Transformers 2. Now, Common has signed on for Terminator 4. I have to wonder if he along with Gale signed a multi picture deal with Warners. Or, he signed a one picture deal for JLM, but since that's dead, Warners is using him here instead.

Common thread in 'Terminator' film
Rapper to co-star in Warner Bros.' sequel

By TATIANA SIEGEL

Rapper Common has signed on to co-star in "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" for Halcyon Pictures.

Christian Bale and Sam Worthington have already boarded the project, which will be distributed by Warner Bros. domestically. Sony will release the film in most foreign territories.

Story centers on John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s, who leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines. Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor's inner circle.

McG will direct from a script by John D. Brancato & Michael Ferris and Paul Haggis.

Dan Lin, Mortiz Borman, Victor Kubicek, Jeff Silver, Derek Anderson and Jeanne Allgood are producing the film, which will bow May 22, 2009.
Common can next be seen onscreen in "Wanted," starring Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. Later this summer, he is set to release his eighth album, "Invincible Summer."

All my hopes now cling to a possible fall/winter shoot, basically a 1 year delay from the original plan. A few rumors have pointed to that scenario, but not a whole lot. Beyond that, I give up hope.

Again, the problem is MOS is aiming for a 2010 release. You will not see two different live action Superman on film in the same year. So, it will be either JLA or MOS for 2010. And as we speak, MOS is on more sure footing than JLA is. And 2011 will be reserved for BB3.

Yeah, no way JLA and MOS come out the same year. I've heard rumblings on MOS, but I wouldn't say it's on a more sure footing than JLA at this moment. But that could change quickly.

Yea, perhaps more sure footing wasn't the best way to describe MOS' status. But I don't think it's any coincidence that as talk has died down for JLA, talk has picked up for MOS.

Well actually we havent heard any status currently where MOS stands so right now i see league still possibly happening later this yr over MOS. But we dont know what wb is up to with dc films so we have to wait and see what news comes out officially on if they are going with singer again for MOS or if they want to still go ahead with jla.

Hammer on ''Billy Grahan''.

Palmer on ''Transformers 2''

Common on ''Terminator 4''

Well... Sounds like we're not going to have it. But we will have ''Avengers''!

Yea we probably wont have miller's jla any more. But whos to say they are not going to make jla still. For all we know they can easily hire a new director, crew and cast and get it shooting later this yr or early next yr. Still lots of time for that to happen if they plan to shoot around dec-jan peroid and all that. But since we dont know what wb's plans are for dc films all we can do is hope for something else besides batman and superman films. As you guys know for me personally i dont want to see singer return to superman but i am open for him to come back but its hard to fix all the issues SR had with it and rebooting supes would be nicer but less likely to happen. Personally i would like to see jla still happen just get a new director and crew on it and move it along. If no jla for a few yrs then i rather see those flash and gl solo films get back off the ground we havent heard any status of them since before the writers strike went long haul and all that.

I'm hoping WB sees what is being done with Avengers and follows suit. Have the Batman sequel, followed by a WW film, then Green Lantern film, maybe the Superman sequel and then do a JLA film (which can introduced Flash). The characters need intro films for JLA to work IMO. Their stories are too big (and good) to tell in one team film.

I can easily see flash and gl getting solo films as long as the right story, cast, and crew is asembled and they treat the source material well they could have a great film/film series on their hands. But dc/wb is continueing to drop the ball by just sitting on their properities and all that, And yes i know its not wb's priority to do comic films. But with iron man doing well, and hulk possibly doing well to i would think this would instill some faith to wb/dc their lesser known characters if treated right can be a great film.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again...Green Lantern could be EPIC on film...too bad WB dont realize what they have........READ THE COMICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
