JL Casting Call Update

Yea if they treat any of the characters gl/flash/ww or even some lesser known guys right and correctly they could have some good films going for them. It really blows they just keep sitting on the dc characters and not even try like marvel has. Even though i dont read dc and only know things from the cartoons and looking up info i would love to see some more dc characters make it to the silver screen.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again...Green Lantern could be EPIC on film...too bad WB dont realize what they have
They should get Geoff Johns to write the screenplay for either Flash or GL.

He is a professional screenwriter, has proven he knows how to make the characters work and is currently in WB's employ.

........READ THE COMICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently this is below them but they'll make a film like Batman and Robin without hesitation.

Yea they really need to get comic writers to do the scripts or atless over see the film or something.

Lets give WB some credit here. Yea, they put out B&R but they also put the right team together for Batman Begins. And those involved in BB, did read the comics.

Comic writers don't have the credibility in Hollywood for that. They need a resume and connections to back up their ideas.

Some comic writers have more screenplay experience then others, of course.

They definitely need them as consultants at the very least.

That's good for Batman. But he's Batman. It can weather that treatment of a B & R. Low profile franchise's can't. A Birds of Prey or Steel mistake will be enough for WB to never touch them again.

David Goyer did more then read the comics. He wrote them for DC. He's even worked with Geoff Johns, the guy who revitalised Flash after Waid left and made GL into a hit with Hal Jordan on the direct market.

Yea if not writing the script get flash writers/gl writers/ww writers on those solo films as consultants for said films. Like if JLA gets off the ground again later this yr or at a later time they should get bruce timm on it.

Exactly. I wish that DC would create their own DC Studios, which WB would distribute for. Kinda like the Marvel/Paramount stuff now. If DC had a hand in the films being made, it would be great. Dont get me wrong I love Nolan's Batman series, but there is a whole universe left untapped by Warner Bros.

yea it would be nice if they could do their own studio like marvel is doing but as stated by others they technically cant since time warner owns the company.

Then Time Warner needs to stop being a bunch of little nancies and start giving the amazing DC characters a chance.

definately...as far as Nolans Batman...those films seem to mark the only time in wb history where a director has read and respected the comics!

Yea we are luckly we got bb/tdk out from wb everything else Sr, the past batfilms, catwoman, etc.... all blow. It would be nice if they treated the characters right and give other characters a chance on the silver screen.

I'm looking forward to TDK but honestly I'm sick of Supes and Bats. GL could be huge! Dude traveling the stars and being a galactic sheriff..........the special effects can be out of this world.......literally. I just don't understand the lack of faith in a GL or even Flash. GL got me back into comics.

Its amazing that Marvel does it in their first movie as a studio but WB, a corporation which has been making comic book based products for decades, didn't bother considering it for their comic book films.

Docker:

The magnitude of great franchises left untouched or those "lucky" enough to get their attention only to be treated like crap by WB is staggering.

I am not sure why everybody thinks the answer to DC's characters is having comicbook writers tackle the script rather than professional screenwriters. Screenwriters research their subject matter when writing a script, which wouldn't be any different from comicbook films.

And lots of screenwriters (and directors) today grew up reading comic-books.

Right exactly, so some are filled with comic book knowledge to begin with. I just don't think Dini and Timm are the answer to every question about who should write Superman. I am not knocking Timm or Dini at all, those guys do a fantastic job for what they do. Nor am I knocking comicbooks, I just don't understand the theory I guess.

They do? So I guess research for Harris and Dougherty was just watching "Superman: The Movie" over and over.

SHE was up, up and away as part of the cast of the beleaguered Justice League of America, but Teresa Palmer's film fortunes have transformed again.

While her Justice role as baddie Talia al Ghul is seemingly in a permanent holding pattern, the talented Aussie actress, pictured, has apparently landed a role in the Transformers sequel, Transformers 2. Her casting follows an Aussie theme for director Michael Bay. The blockbuster auteur cast another Aussie, Rachael Taylor, in the first live-action Transformers feature and the Tassie actress has been busy ever since, appearing in the Alan Rickman drama Bottle Shock and more recently Deception with Michelle Williams.
Palmer, too, has been busy of late, moving swiftly from the postponed George Miller-directed Justice League to star opposite Adam Sandler in Bedtime Stories.

Apparently, Palmer isn't joining the cast of Transformers 2 after all.

Last month it was reported that Australian hottie Teresa Palmer had been cast in Michael Bay’s Transformers 2. Bay denies the casting on his personal blog, claiming that “Teresa Palmer was not considered for a role.”

I say have the screenwriters do there thing but bring in some comic book writers as consultants, Grant Morrison!
