JL Casting Call Update

Darth Nata is legit.

he has brought informations that have always proven true.

Merry Christmas everybody

well as my above post emi over on iesb claims that the script is all set and went through 4 rewrites and it is all set to go and filming is indeed going to begin in feb.

Yup i read that.

Well not saying that Emyjaine has never had any accurate information , but going on track record i will go with Darth Nata :cwink:

to each his own. lets see what happens when the new WB exec takes over in jan. so next week we should hear some rumblings

LOL! It's an expression: "Strike while the iron is hot" means to take advantage of favorable circumstances while they last. The image is from a blacksmith's shop; the smith can shape iron only by striking it with his hammer when it is red hot.

;)

I'm aware of the meaning, you miss interpreted what I wrote, either that or I really should have worded what I said better :whatever:

What I was meaning to say is what makes this time the time when the iron is hot? What are the favorable circumstances for a JL film now? What are they taking advantage of?

Yea as people think with the new guy becoming president on the 1st if we dont hear about jla during his plans for wb and nothing between then and the rumored feb 11th start date then the film is canned.

If they are making major changes at the top of the WB it makes sense to release info about a big project like JLA after the change is made, that way they have some big news from the company to boost stock or whatever in the wake of major changes.

If that's the thinking behind it, I don't know if it's a smart move or not, Some of the casting choices we've heard (if true) might make stockholders more nervous than anything...

Well, the best response I can offer is an excerpt from an interview between DC's Gregory Noveck and Voices from Krypton back in October...

GREGORY NOVECK: The reason that Justice League is powering forward first [before MOS] is because the script came in and it was phenomenal.

VOICES FROM KRYPTON: It's really that good?

GREGORY NOVECK: It is, and that very rarely happens in Hollywood on a movie of this scale, and when it does you have no choice but to say, "We'd better catch lightning in a bottle and go!" All of a sudden, six months later, who knows what's going to happen? You want to hold on to those writers, you've got massive interest from directors, you land someone like George Miller, so you go.

[snip]

VOICES FROM KRYPTON: Earlier you mentioned how strong the Justice League script was, which I'm glad to hear, because, again, the Internet is alive with people screaming that given the speed at which it's coming together, there's no way it can be good.

GREGORY NOVECK: No, we're rushing it because the script came in so good. There was no mandate that we had to go and make this movie. What created the mandate was you had a strong script with all of these characters and there's a window, so you go and do it.

Unfortunately, that's the best I can do. I would imagine there's more to it than that, and it's probably financially based. Decisions like this usually are.

Yup i read that.

So maze what is that guys track record??

Obviously there is the uncertainty with how/when/if you continue with the Superman films after SR didn't meet studio expectations. That is maybe the biggest factor of all. I'm sure it's a mixture of both, I hope for our sakes that it has more to do with the script being good, than with fear over making a sequel to SR.

Noveck did cite Singer being off doing other films and hence not being available, so it could be as simple as that. I tend to think there IS quite a bit more to what's going on though; how could there not be? Singer's writers ditched him and the project like a cheap ****e, so either Singer told them not to wait around, or they didn't want to do a follow-up to Two Men, a Reporter and a Baby.

...mmmmm this eggnog is good tonight. :p

If there is any unhappiness with singer's franchise at WB, and there apears to be (at least from some execs) I would totally expect someone involved with the studio to downplay said unhappiness in an interview.

Very diplomatically said!

Just FYI, there is another "insider" at the Superherohype boards who claims the script is "nowhere near ready to shoot." Hopefully we can get more confirmation on this. (Emi, hint, hint). He claims to know someone high up with the movie. Outside of the one or two individuals who have given us information, these "insiders" are really pissing me off. Nine times out of time they are full of crap!

I know I've had my share of bad info on this film (Thanks Lady M!), but the script for this film was near perfect from the time it was turned in. They went through 4 rewrites (adding in Martian Manhunter and tweaking things here and there) and George Miller himself has said it will begin filming as scheduled. Not to mention 3 of the rumored cast members are currently in Austraila with no specific purpose being given to the public. So that in itself should say this is a done deal. I can pretty much guarantee that my #1 and only 100% trusted source is way higher than whomever this other person knows. I'd bet a case of 1999 Cristal on it.

So does this mean that Welling is still in it? Is that what she's saying? :cmad:

Well I took Nata's comments as not saying the script wasn't complete, but that there are budget issues. They apparently still need to trim some fat for the budget that they must not have noticed until after the strike had begun.

Whether or not outside writers are still working on this is something none of us know right now.

This movie is going to happen. MOS can't replace it because there's no time to switch it out and there's no script in any form most importantly. MOS was set to start in June 08 for the screen 09. If the writer's strike takes as long as the last one, it will still give JL a month to rewrite and get the movie in front of the cameras for summer 09. They can just get all the preproduction stuff done in the mean time.

P.S. notice Miller's comment that the movie is set to start film "next year" instead of saying February specifically.

Huh? LOL! Where, Docker?

Is this a trick question?
HAHAHAHA!!! It gets me every time. :p

I do confess there's a teensy tiny little piece of me that's keeping the fire burning right up till the bitter end. Because really, nothing is set in stone until we're all standing in line with tickets in hand. ;)

Becuase she's always saying that. Plus no comment from his agent isn't saying "no he's not" it means they can't say he is or isn't at this time.

OH! The "no comment" replies. Yeah, that's definitely interesting, if only in a "WTF - are they dumb?" sort of way. Seems like it would be just as easy to say "no" and get the caller to stop pestering them, but maybe that's too simple, I dunno? Hell, if I were the secretary, I'd just lie and get it over with... "NO! Now go away!" Wouldn't that make more sense? LOL

Which is still suspect -- the reps for that guy from Hellboy denounced his (sorry ass') involvement immediately; TW's reps denounced his involvement for Superman Returns immediately.
There is no "can" or "can't" with this -- there is only "want to" and "don't want to."
My question is why don't they want to confirm or deny?
Either their client is so lame that they need this ridiculous publicity, or they want to avoid negative fallout for their client in the case that the client was attached (or auditioned) and didn't make the cut.

The script is nowhere near ready to be filmed. Fact. Just because some internet site says that it starts filming on February 11th doesn't mean it will. If it does go ahead there is no chance that the cameras will start rolling on that date.

Oh boy... another know-it-all.

First off... since when does any movie ever start PP on the day it's scheduled to? The movie is probably going to get made, and like every other movie, it probably won't roll film on the date the studio booked the set for. It probably won't actually start the primary unit (unit 1) filming until March or April... look at Spidey or Bats (or Supes) -- all the news of filming of secondary units months in advance of the stars actually filming.
