JL Casting Call Update

Yea preformance is a key thing but with these superhero films their is a certain look and feel an actor has to pull off the character correctly. And with superman and batman in particular you expect a certain look on these characters. Which cotrona and hammer from what little we know and images we seen dont have.

That certain look is very relative, since it isn't all that certain. Within the comic book historys of these characters, you can find so many different versions of Batman and Superman and among them even ones that suit Cotrona's height or Hammer's age. In the end the question isn't what they look like on ramdom pics, but what they look like in the movie. And personally, i perfer an actor who has to be made up so that he looks like Superman over an actor who exacly looks like him, but can't act the part. And yeah, there are properbly actors that both look the part and can play it, but you have to go with the actors they could've gotten and there apparently wasn't someone like that among them.

Well thats the thing we dont really know who else tested for batman and superman or tested for one role and miller/casting director liked them for a different role.

Even if we would know all the actors, who tested for Batman and Superman, we still wouldn't have seen their tests. People would ask, why didn't they chose this guy, he looks just like Superman, even through "this guy" properbly gave an awful screentest...

He was cast as Aquaman? Well, that isn't a bad choice.

Personally if you have a squirt 5’9” Superman and huge 6’5” Batman with 3” or 4” ears
Everyone is going to go HUH??? What is up with that?
Even the non-superhero fan public is going to know something aint right.
That’s why if they are cast, I hope its reversed Armie is Superman and DJ is Batman

Yea if there are to be in the film i would probably be fine if it was the other way around. But if i had to pick i would drop both and hire some other people who more look like the characters, can act well and have relatively the same height so it would look good on screen. Really i dont see how they expect us to believe the world's greatest hero standing only 5'9 and batman towering over him at 6'5 that is so wrong. They both should be in the 6'0-6'4 range.

They keep trying, but Common still won't talk about JL.

Q: You're also attached to the films "Wanted" and "Justice League," what can you tell me about those films?

A: "Wanted" is coming out June 27. It stars Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, James McAvoy and is directed by Timur Bekmambetov. This film is one of the freshest, newest films you've ever seen. It's incredible. I've never seen anything like it. I'm excited to be a part of that. My character is the gunsmith. "Justice League," I can't really talk about that yet. I don't have the jurisdiction yet to talk about that (laughs).

Nice find, boilumen.

I think that has to do with WB now telling Common, again, you can't say *****. Which leads you to believe he is under contract.

Possiblely who knows with this film with no dam official word on any thing. Really with the cast i am fine with brody, common and gale to an extent i just dont want to see cotrona and hammer as bats and supes. So hopefully for us fans they drop them for some better suit actors for the role and actors they can afford/ want to spend money on.

For Commons new Album, he should do a song base on this movie. But nothing like the awful Soulja Boy song for Superman...

At least we know there's still movement on the acting front. Good to know that Common's attached.

OK. Found a pic of Cotrona I haven't seen before. It says Superman to me a little bit more:

What do you guys think?

I'm thinkin' maybe..... I think if I new more about him (actual height, acting ability, etc) are could give a more definite answer.

I think Common and Gale will be kept attached to it, unless a really big change comes in.

I've seen that pic before and i really like it. He definitely has that Superman look there. Like i said before, if you look at random pics, you can find ones where actors look more like certain characters and ones where they look less like certain characters. In the end, the only important thing is how he looks in the movie. And you can be sure that they're gonna make him up that he looks as much like Superman as possible...

ya, I think he can pull off the look
with the height issue, that can possibly be corrected on screen
with the height correction, I think the size issue might work out as will, as he will look more proportionate to his body type, which once enlarged will look pretty good

in fact, I was almost thinking that with him being short, once enlarged on screen, his body type might actually give him a bigger look, then, say even, Routh had
cause, he will still be well proportioned, in ratio to his size
I think part of the problem with Routh, where he kinda looked skinny was his height, and body type, with his height, his arms, neck, even legs, were long and lanky, which gave him that skinny look, no matter how much muscle he put on
so, with a shorter guy, who they'll most likely just enlarge on screen (green screening or camera angles, what not), his arms, neck.... will not look as lanky, and it will not take him as much work to for him look bulkier

btw, here's a quick colorization, of that pic, (just cause i was bored)

Wow, i like the blue eyes. IMO that alone already helps ALOT. Would also be cool if someone could do a colored manip from that pic, with him in the costume, the right hair and all that. And it's very true what you're saying about the height thing, that made Routh so damn skinny looking. It kinda was the same with Chris Reeve. I mean, he didn't look THAT skinny, but IMO not that muscular either. And after seeing that shirtless pics of Cotrona, i'd say he already has a well defined body and with all the training, he surley does for the role, he could end up looking really built in the movie...

Looks great, Give him a shave and the Superman haircut and you'll have a believer.

But they can really do that? Make a guy look bigger on screen with SFX? (that sounded dirty hee hee) That would be great, I'd support DJ if that were so.

Yeah, that'd be great!

I agree with everything you said. He probably is very bulked up for the role (hopefully).

I guess there are a lot of diffrent methods to make someone look taller. I mean, there are really small people in Hollywood, like Tom Cruise for example, but they still play action movies and you still don't think, this midget isn't believable for this role. The way they cut it and stuff, the height just never really comes into play. And like Spider-Fan mentiond, since Don isn't that tall, his muscles will be noticed even more and that will make him look bigger. Btw, as far as i know, he's 5'9 not 5'5 or something, so he isn't really small but has more of an avarage size. Dean Cain for example was 6 feet, which isn't really that much more and looked nothing like Superman, but, if you liked the show or not, you've got to admit that it was very successful and the general public surley accepted him as Superman.

Thanks. And CG SFX to make someone taller would be interesting. Not that it's that big a difference, but I heard DJ was 5' 10' or 5' 11'.

True, Dean Cain was 6ft, which is 4 inches shorter than the character Superman. You're right, a lot of non comic book people really liked him as Superman. My mom loved him as Superman, everyone always says that he filled out the suit good, so I give him that at least. Other than that I think he was meh. He filled out the suit best as Superman, that's pretty much it. I honestly think tho, if DJ's casting is true, that he'll be a much better Superman than Dean Cain was, just my personal vibe there.

Anymore manips of DJ as Superman?

Just for kicks, does anyone have a manip of Adam Brody with a blonde Barry Allen crew cut? :woot: I'd like to see what that'd be like, cuz even tho he's playing Barry Allen, I doubt they'll give him the blonde crew cut. It'd be cool if they did but I wonder what that'd look like...

Any manips of Hugh Keays-Byrne as MM, Andy Whitfield as Batman, etc...?
