JL Casting Call Update

Who still thought there was going to be a July shoot?

If J.L. doesnt happen now, I can't see it happening for a long while. 2011/12 maybe?
Hear that? thats the sound of the fat lady.

well july is likely out. Now its still possible for it to shoot end of the year/early next yr and likely with a whole new crew and possibly cast too. But who knows what is going to happen with this project, singer MOS(i hope not happening), and solo ww/flash/gl films. Hopefully some/all of them do happen and they are good films.

Good job!
He could pass as Batman or maybe even Supes.
Nice find.
She's not doing too bad for herself since Justice League was put on hold. First she signed on to that Adam Sandler flick and now she's in Transformers 2.

yea i wish them all good luck with future films and all that. Hopefully jla does happen and we get a new crew, new direction, and new(hopefully better) cast if jla does end up happening either end of this yr, next yr or if we have to wait longer(hopefully not to long).

Haven't you seen the movie? In his depowered form, that's Jones in a make-up suit without any CGI enhancements.

Really? I remeber him being depowered, but I didn't know that was really Doug in the costume. I always thought it was a brilliant job on the CGI there. Like Gollum. :hehe:

Unbelievable, this JL thing is not dead yet, how much does it take for WB to figure it out? :whatever:

With the positive reaction that the Nick Fury scene is getting in IronMan, don't be surprised if you hear JLA pick up steam again. It wasn't until the announcement of Penn doing the script that WB threw this film together. I say do a freakin GL film first! I hate the WB! :csad:

As i have said many times who really knows what is going on with jla or any of the dc films in general for that matter.

After seeing Iron Man I really think this movie will be way better of with an older cast. It will be eaten alive with actors in their 20's, while Marvel has Downey Jr. (43) and Ed Norton (38). An Avenger film will be a movie with adults, men looking like men and experienced actors, while JLA will be a movie with actors looking like boyband-singers and inexperienced actors.

I hope WB will look to Marvel if this movie ever gets of the ground again and do some re-casting. Cause Marvel has upped-the bar a bit.

Here Here, I totally agree with going with an older cast, thus some of my hopeful picks would be casted =)

David Boreanaz (38) for Batman

Agreed.

yea i totally agree too it stupid for wb/dc to have mostly young cast only older ones were gale and common. Now yea if tthe film was to be where the league has been together for a few yrs already the members should have all been in the early to mid 30s.

Do you think that Norton will be back for an Avengers movie after what it's happening in the edit room?

who knows i have heard conflicting things about that whole norton and marvel stuff. I thought i read an interview a few weeks back saying all that was being blown out of proption.

Exactly. I thought it was Norton himself who said it was blown out of proportion. Besides, if the Hulk is a hit, you honestly think Norton wouldn't be back?

Yea if its a hit i bet he will love to return for sequel and/or avengers film. Yea i too as i said remember reading interview from norton from a few weeks ago posted on shh main page where he said all the heat between himself and marvel over the editing of the film/marketing was blown out of what is really happening. Ok guys here i found the article about it:
Marvel and Norton's 'Dispute' Over Hulk?
Source: Entertainment Weekly April 16, 2008

Presumably you've heard about the rumors that Marvel Studios and The Incredible Hulk star Edward Norton were in a 'dispute' over the final cut of the movie. Now, Entertainment Weekly has published an in-depth article about the 'situation,' which pretty much comes down to this:

According to Leterrier, he and his star hit it off beautifully, and there were no issues with Marvel while the movie was being shot. During post-production, though, the relationship with Marvel hit a snag. The company wanted to release the most commercial film possible: lots of action and a running time under two hours. Norton and Leterrier, however, lobbied for a more meditative cut of the film that ran about two hours and 15 minutes.

It's all apparently been blown out of proportion though. Here's a statement from Norton that was also approved by Universal and Marvel:

Like so many people I've loved the story of The Hulk since I was a kid, so it was thrilling when Marvel asked me to write and help produce an altogether new screen incarnation, as well as play Bruce Banner. I grew up reading Marvel Comics and always loved the mythic dimension and contemporary themes in the stories, and I’m proud of the script I wrote. In every phase of production, including the editing, working with Louis Leterrier has been wonderful...I've never had a better partner, and the collaboration with all the rest of the creative team has been terrific. Every good movie gets forged through collaboration, and different ideas among people who are all committed and respect the validity of each other's opinions is the heart of filmmaking. Regrettably, our healthy process, which is and should be a private matter, was misrepresented publicly as a 'dispute,' seized on by people looking for a good story, and has been distorted to such a degree that it risks distracting from the film itself, which Marvel, Universal and I refuse to let happen. It has always been my firm conviction that films should speak for themselves and that knowing too much about how they are made diminishes the magic of watching them. All of us believe The Incredible Hulk will excite old fans and create new ones and be a huge hit...our focus has always been to deliver the Hulk that people have been waiting for and keep the worldwide love affair with the big green guy going strong.

Ah Webhead, you are good for something! ;) I honestly believe that JLA will be pressed harder by WB or Green Lantern will. IM isn't Spidey, Hulk or Xmen but I'm positive that its going to make at least $88 million this weekend. That's a 2nd tier Marvel hero making that much. I'm thinking it will open the eyes of the WB for a GL movie....

But forget it. This is the WB we are talking about. They will probably press for the Metal Men movie to go full speed now. :whatever:

Yea if they are planning to can jla for good now(for a few yrs/longer- i hope not to long) i hope if both hulk and iron man do well for marvel it will open wb/dc eyes to getting those flash/gl solo films that were in the works last yr going again and then also maybe ww to. Personally i dont want to see singer Superman 2 and if we are to get a dc film for 2010 i rather see flash/gl solo film or if jla can happen that over MOS.

1. Older actors = better
2. Take the plot seriously
3. Dont pander to kids (the original StarWars didn't and it still had great moments for kids)
4. Do a kick ass job on the powers

That's the formula for getting JL right.

WonderWoman: Monica Dean
Flash: Ryan Reynolds
Batman: Bale
Superman: Anyone but Routh
Aquaman: Never
GreenLantern: Tom Cruise (seriously) or jonathan-rhys-meyers with an american accent
