Joe Wright to Helm 'Pan'

So the options for Tiger Lily your question suggests are either a) a racist stereotype or b) a white person? Good to know.

now I'm going to sleep.

I clearly never said that. I never suggested decreasing the options, you did. And still avoiding the question. :funny:

Whether you did or not I'm quite convinced this film's production couldn't get passed those two options, unfortunately.

The character was a racist stereotype. Updating the character by making her white is white washing. I didn't answer the question because your argument style was getting tedious. The character desperately needed updating in order to not be offensive, but casting a white actress was not the right way to do it.

Yaaaay! Photoshop FTW!

It's especially funny because of the actors' expressions and stances. The kid playing Peter looks like he's stretching out his back before going running or something. Hedlund is doing the generic action hero pose. Rooney looks stoned. And Jackman is doing doing the typical sinister stare.

Yeah...this movie has box office bomb written all over it. That poster is terrible.

Why don't posters use an image of all of the actors taken together, instead of photoshopping individual stock photos? Their proportions in relation to each other never look right and they all look in different directions.

That is a horrible poster. But I would totally buy it and cut out the Mara portion. :funny:

Because that would take planning and honestly most studios don't do that. They do group shots, but rarely would they work for the posters they come up with later. This is why I prefer art in general.

How is that ship supposed to sail without sails? :loco:

Box office bomb based on the poster though?

based on everything. casting, trailer, posters. sometimes you can tell a movie will flop before it even comes out because everything about seems amateurish. like terminator: genesys for example

I had hoped this would look promising, as the story seemed like a very interesting idea, but wow that trailer looked awful. Looks like a direct to DVD film. With all that money, they really should have invested more in practical effects and gone a little less grandiose. More Hook than animated cartoon. The performances all around are cartoony and over the top, with some pretty bad writing.

Here's hoping I'm wrong, I'm not a fan of judging a film before actually seeing it, but wow that trailer left me completely underwhelmed. Of course, I hate trailers though, and this is exactly the reason - they tend to strip away any and every nuance.

Yeah, the trailer got no reaction when I saw it before watching "Inside Out" this weekend. I don't think people are very interested.

For me, you just wouldn't know that it had anything to with Peter Pan.

I still think it looks entertaining. The trailers aren't like amazing, they are missing something and I don't know what.

I have enjoyed all the trailers quite a bit. If there is anything "missing" I would say it is the actual meat of the story. We get the idea of what is going on, how it starts, how it ends. But I have no real idea how they are going to spend the bulk of the second act. Based on that, it seems a bit too generic, too typical, at least on the story front.

You think the "Choosen One" angle is going to be a yawner to people?

I think studios have to tread carefully when using that angle, it comes off as boring if you don't market it right.

I think it being Peter Pan is the "yawner". Though the "Chosen One" idea probably doesn't help. I think there is a real chance they could tell the same story without the Chosen One stuff.

Yeah the Peter Pan story itself will definitely be a tough sell.

Peter Pan is one of those stories that is so iconic for such a small part of the story that no one really wants to do anything else with it. Hook and Peter is all people take away from the story. No one cares where he came from.
