Jimmy Hayward will Direct Jonah Hex

this is awesome.

And now Legendary Pictures are involved? awesome too.

Don't know about Goldsman though

I don't know how extensive Goldsman's involvement will be for JH -- probably just a producing credit for this flick. However, lately his involvement is two-fold as producer and screenwriter (I am Legend, The Da Vinci Code) but it's unclear now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Goldsman doctors or refines the script during shooting, though.

yea most likely, and figures legendary is co finicining the flix seems to be whats going on with their dc pics.

i wonder if they will do green lantern too? I don't see why not. I mean, this Legendary news bit came out of nowhere for Hex.

Sorry, didn't see that you had bumped this thread when I created the new one. I'm just so pumped about this. Malkovich is always awesome :D

I don't see why not. Warners doesn't have to foot the total bill for GL, and their history with Legendary has been very solid for the most part.

I didnt get how the sheriff in the script, turned people into zombies. Can someone explain that?

What characters are in the movie? Besides Hex and Turnbull, i only know Delia and Grass. By the way, i suggest Cate Blanchett for Delia and Paul Giamatti for Grass.

Hayward was certainly a surprise choice - one I felt better about when it came out that Brolin had championed him to the studio. Of course there's still no telling how Hayward will do on a project like this, so I'll take a wait and see stance and hope for the best.

At any rate, I'm pleased that Neveldine and Taylor aren't making the film as I didn't like Crank at all. Maybe they would have made Jonah Hex in a style more to my liking, but I dislike Crank enough that I didn't have much confidence in that.

Jonah Hex has a release date: August 6th, 2010.

was reading about that and gl's release dated earlier tonight. Great to hear it finally got a release date. I hope the film does well and i bet the mods will make a hex section soon enough.

2010 is shaping up very nicely

So, will Jonah get its own sub-forum? Or is it small for it to be warranted?
I would think it'll get its own sub-forum. It's a bigger production than the Punisher films, and they got a sub-forum.

well lets ask one of the mobs on what they might be doing.

True. Plus GI Joe got a forum and it was a toy first, as far as I know.

Okay, so we have a director in place, star, villain, and release dates; Now where the hell is the Jonah Hex board??

That seems like a pretty reasonable release date to me. It's late enough in the Summer season that the audience probably will be ready for something without all the flashy special effects. Inglorious Basterds may set the benchmark as far as expectations are concerned.

The fact that Jonah Hex has a longer post-production period than Iron Man or Thor bodes well for it as well.
