John Ridley Marvel TV Show in Development

If it's to, "reinvent an existing character or property," that doesn't mean it's absolutely not a team series. This could very well be Runaways or Avengers Academy but I feel like both of those series would work better on ABC Family.

There were rumors of a new Hulk TV show but I'm not sure how that would work on a TV budget. The Flash has some great effects work but it isn't full blown performance capture. I can easily see She-Hulk on primetime network TV. Same goes for Power Pack. Keep in mind that John Ridley worked on The Wanda Sykes Show and Undercover Brother. That's what I'm seriously hoping for.

Marvel and ABC like putting their darker characters on Netflix. ABC didn't want to air Jessica Jones because they felt it was too dark. This means it's probably not Punisher, Blade or Moon Knight if it's on ABC. If Jessica Jones was too dark, then Punisher is an absolute no.

Then there are the Ms. Marvel rumors which seem possible but I'm really not sure how Kamala Kahn could be introduced before Carol Danvers.

And Cloak and Dagger is a possibility as well since that show was rumored for years.

And just to state the obvious, it isn't going to be Moon Knight or Eternals since both of those are way too expensive to do on TV.

Looks like its going to be the new Ms. Marvel TV series

I think it makes sense for him to do this because it's a Muslim hero and he is currently doing the American Crime series that has elements of Islamic culture this fits in his wheelhouse.

Not sure I want a Ms. Marvel show pre-Captain Marvel

EEEEEEEeeeeeeee!!! This is very exciting!!!!

Though it's a bit weird if this comes before the Ms. Marvel movie...

It also comes before the Terrigen bomb that everyone suspects will be dropped on the MCU. Ridley may be changing both Kamala's origin and inspiration - we're not off to a good start.

I like Ms. Marvel. I think they can set up the Terrigen Bomb aspect. But I do wish Carol Danvers was introduced first.

If it is Kamala Khan, then there may be hope for this lady afterall:

This doesn't look like it has any new information, it's just the exact same reddit rumor posted before, but "reported" as news.

Someone on reddit, with no proof that they are legit, was apparently saying that they have inside info that the show is about
Kamala Khan

No evidence or anything, so I don't think there's any truth to it. But since I hadn't seen anyone talking about that 'leak'/fib here, I thought I'd post it.

Not necessarily. Given the missing obelisks, the Terrigen bomb could be dropped in Agents of SHIELD. Nothing global, perhaps, but a single city. Then this series deals with the prejudice these new Inhumans face (drawing parallels with Islamaphobia).

As for her inspiration, maybe she won't be Ms Marvel yet? Maybe this series will be about having powers, and the whole world hating you for it. She might become Ms Marvel eventually, but for now, she's just "Inhuman".

Or, most likely, this is just a rumor and none of that's going to happen.

No new news on this? I haven't heard anything in awhile, and with the AoS season 3 premiere date being announced, but nothing about this, I'm a bit curious. I know that the spin-off was cancelled, but i'm pretty sure this was supposed to be separate. I saw that John Ridley's show "American Crime" is coming back next season. Can he do both?

I think the surprise renewal of American Crime is exactly why this is currently on hold. More than a few analysts thought it would be cancelled. The only way I see the Marvel show co-existing with American Crime is if the Marvel show moves to the Summer season, though maybe they'll prioritize Marvel a bit more if AoS sees solid growth next season.

The Ridley show appears to have been a package deal with the proposed AOS spinoff, with Ms. Marvel (or whatever) filling in the winter break period for Palicki's show. When ABC passed on another hour of AOS, both shows were put on hiatus.

^Makes sense. Thanks.

^ I did not know that. Huh.

I'm skeptical of it being a package deal. I suppose it's possible depending on whether it was a midseason replacement (two hours of Marvel both through the year and during the winter), but I suspect they would have found a way no matter what.

Either way, I suspect American Crime gets priority for him. This show can always wait a year.

the show needs to come out next year, on cable, broadcast TV or netflix.

I hate the fact that this will be airing on ABC. Ridley is a terrific writer and i'd love to see him get all the freedom that the Netflix guys get. I hate the restraints that come with network television.

I'll go ahead and draw the line in the sand that no comic book TV show on a network can ever really be truly great. Arrow and the Flash have been good, but they cannot hold a candle to Daredevil. That is the greatest CBM television show of all time, and it isn't even close. And I truly think that it all boils down to the difference between the two mediums.
So whatever this show is, if it's on network TV, I can only be so interested. Especially if it's a Ms. Marvel show..

No one even has a clue. It's probably best that way.

Pls no. She deserves her own movie.

The only new Avengers to deserve a film franchise are War Machine and Black Widow. I can see a stand alone Black Knight or Vision film happening but the rest are better off as supporting characters.
