John Ridley Marvel TV Show in Development

The only new Avengers to deserve a film franchise are War Machine and Black Widow. I can see a stand alone Black Knight or Vision film happening but the rest are better off as supporting characters.

You said this in that thread you made and nobody really agreed with you. Pretty much anyone can be made into a movie star with the write vehicle.

Honestly, Monica's too powerful and unique to be a supporting character. Too independent. You have to nerf her hard to have her play sidekick to anyone. And a nerfed Monica isn't really Monica, because her powerset is so simple, it just has incredible implications because science. It'd be much easier to pull together a supporting cast than turn Spectrum into a cool version of not-quite-Spectrum.

Again, the problem is her rogue's gallery. Somebody like Iron Man or Luke Cage has enough villains to last for several more installments. Can you name three villains specific to Monica? And which existing Marvel film franchise would you cancel a sequel for to make room for Spectrum?

And isn't Scarlet Witch too powerful to be a supporting character?

Also, the John Ridley show is hopefully Ms. Marvel since Kamala Khan actually has source material to draw upon.

Good point on Scarlet Witch. But then again, isn't the god-like version of her relatively recent? I'm not quite as sure the lack of a personalized rogues gallery is a deal breaker though. I mean, BP's spending all his great foes on one film, but that doesn't make me any less interested in a sequel. Jessica Jones has the same problem. War Machine would be in the exact same spot. Ant-Man is in a similar place, and you saw their solution.

I wouldn't cancel any existing franchise. I'd certainly let trilogies naturally end, but I don't know that they need to cancel any sequels to make a new film, or if they do, Black Widow and War Machine would have the same 'problem.'

Then give her someone else's villain. There's more than enough to go around. You're too hung up on that.

Imagine if they would like, use minor non-characters as villain right? Or frankenstein villains together? Or make up their own?

Could you imagine if they had put together a minor villain like whiplash with some elements of crimson dynamo and some original ideas as a main villain? Or if they took a non-super powered character like Aldrich Killian, gave him a random power set and let him call himself the Mandarin? Or if they took some random SHIELD agent like Alexander Pierce, pieced him together with Alexander Lukin and some Dell Rusk elements and made him leader of SHIELD and a secret head of hydra? Or if they used a non-character like Darren Cross? Or an even more non-character of Kaecillius? The MCU would be doomed then. :o

His modern TV and film work is all way darker and more bleak than a Ms. Marvel show should be. I love American Crime but it's really messed up.

I'll reiterate that there was never any real fuel to the rumor this show is Ms. Marvel other than someone noticing Ridley has written Muslim characters in the past.

White Tiger maybe? She (Angela del Toro) was name-dropped in JJ already.

I'm still hoping for Daughters of the Dragon myself.

I suppose saying it's Jessica Jones-esque sounds better than saying it's SHIELD or Inhumans-esque.

Jessica Drew during her bounty hunter days?

Welp, I hope it's not about any character I like since I won't watch it.

Jessica Jones-esque is meaningless without some idea of what they mean by that.

Yeah, it could mean dark and gritty, it could mean tied to gender issues, it could mean related to private investigation, it could mean, "Don't worry, it's not Inhumans."

Jessica Drew would be interesting.

Its been done before, but its expensive and unpleasant and actors generally hate full body makeup. It also wouldn't solve the issue that Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk also have different builds.

Universal needs to chill out and then we can get the Hulk fam in the movies.

After Rogue One I'm even more convinced that a full CGI She-Hulk would be a pretty bad idea. The technology just isn't there yet.

The alternative would be incredibly corny.
Drax disagrees and laughs at you.

This doesn't mean that I endorse the idea of a She-Hulk tv show, by the way.
