I agree what withthe fact that we are dealing with the early stages of Batmans crusade

Don't laugh at me, this is just a suggestion:

Michael Keaton

Yeah, I know he played Batman previously, but he's damn good at playing psychotic characters. Just watch "Desperate Measures". It will never happen I know because this franchise will distance itself away from the previous films. It's just a suggestion.

Tony Robbins, he has the perfect teeth!

you see he even agrees.

Now that is an interesting switch...

Crispin Glover...DAMMIT!

Hes not too old...does the joker really have to be in his 20s?!?!

He originally audiciened for The Joker in 89' and Tim Burton had him as one of his favs before Jack Nicholson.

No thank you.

Willem Dafoe would be too obvious, what with him appearing in Spider-Man. Uneducated folks would say "Why is Green Goblin in Batman?!"

I have heard and read alot about how some people think that Crispin Glover might be too old to play the part of The Joker, well he is only 41 years old. But if that is a determining factor then Hugo Weaving (45) is out. And so is Willem Dafoe (50)

I think age should have nothing to do with it. I like Crispin Glover as The Joker, and not liking him just because he was in Back to the Future is not really fair, he was great in the Charlie Angels movies, and was really creepy in Willard.

I think that a young Dafoe would have been a very good choice, but alas, it can not be.

...dammit...

Dafoe please.
Ha! understatement is fun! I could live with Dafoe he's a realy good actor, but the whole green goblin thing is weird because that's pretty much all he was in that movie, the Joker on a glider

I agree, plus he would perhaps be too old for the setting that Batman Begins is in, the early career of Batman, so the Joker should not be 50.

I agree you can't really go with that old of an actor, Dafoe being almost 50 and he has done Spiderman, so I would say he is out, although he does have that great evil smile.

Now I am one for Crispin Glover and it seems alot of people or a few have mentioned that because he has done Back to the Future playing George McFly that he shouldn't really be up for the part. That is a silly reason, because in the same breath alot of people are like it has to be Lachy Hulme, but it can be said that he played in that steve irwin movie The Crocodile Hunter

(excuse me for a second)

*walks around the corner out of sight and...*
BWAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA
*comes back into view*

So I really don't think what roles actors have taken on in life should prevent them from doing other roles, unless of course they can't act, for example Angelina Jolie cannot act and would make a horrible catwoman, but that is for a different thread.
All I am saying is lets throw together a list of great actors that are in there late 20's to early 40's and really think out of all of them who would make the ultimate Joker.

So again I am for Crispin Glover

In defence of Defoe, Nickelson was kinda old when he played the j-man to a batman just starting out but with a little experience(as the new joker will be to bale) so I say age is of very little importance compared to acting abilty( of which Glover has none).

that said, DEL TORO DAMNIT!!

I don't know I think Glover can act he has been doing it since the early 80's. He has done tv show's like:

The Facts of Life, Hillstreet Blues, Happy Days, and Family Ties

And has done such movies as:

Friday the 13th Part 4, Twister, Dead Man (w/Johnny Depp great movie), Back to the Future, Nurse Betty, Willard, Charlies Angels, etc...

So to say he can't act when he has been doing it for about 20 years isn't really that fair to say.

Here is another cool picture from Charlies Angels of Crispin Glover:

Yeah, but I want to see a young, spritely Joker, in his prime, not some ageing, miserly gangster type, brooding in the background.

The new films need to set a new standard and be total opposites of anything gone before.

If anyone was born to play the Joker, it has to be Adrian Brody. He needs to bulk up a bit, so he can be a physical challenge to Bale but otherwise, he has the acting ability and the face. This guy can challenge Bale's acting chops, as well. Glover is a loose cannon. I don't trust him and he's very one note. Adrian Brody is the way to go.
