It was never said he was in talks. Like I said he was mentioned as someone being looked at on BOF a loooong time ago that people working in the franchise liked Hulme for the part and thought of his name, or "kicked it around" as Hulme put it. No one is in any talks because there is no villians and there is no script.

There are villians. The writer, Dave Goyer, says Two Face and The Joker are confirmed for the next 2 films.

Thats what I keep telling him.

even so,

though I never heard that as news anywhere, got a link?

What I still say stands as fact guys, don't get all bent up over it, come on, can't we all just get along?

I seriously doubt people have sat down and discussed who they want yet. Once that has happened and it has been made offical news somewhere then we can argue the fina, and bad, points of those in te running. For now we are arguing about nothing except opinions and 1 fact lol.

After hearing the news on the front page well, I'm thinking this scooper is either just trying to start HEAVY rumors or maybe he walked by when the name was nemtioned and missed any names before or after Bettany's. It's nice to see that Bale will have something to do with what happens in the next film though if ANY of this is even true.

But come on Jake Gylenhaal as Dent? This is a horrible choice and after the tone thats been set I just can't see that lame a$$ actor in a Batman film. Just cause he is all famous for being the gay cowboy he is mentioned? I doubt it this particular rumor holds any water. I'm sure Bettany is up for the role but I doubt this scooper heard anything, just rumor starter. Lets just hope Nolan doesn't see it and think it's actually a good choice.

So I'm to understand that Joker, Dent/Two-Face, and Talia will all be in this film at once? What is Talia all pissed now or something?

I love Depp's EARLY work, like F&L, and he is still my favorite actor with his own section in my DVD collection.....with that said I just don't want to see him as the Joker, it won't work for me and I won't see the Joker. Brody is just skinny and odd looking and is a great actor but I don't want to see him as The Joker. Bettany is just a great actor, but I don't really care to see him as The Joker.....I can live with it, but don't want it. I can see Eccelstone cause he is a great actor and looks the part, that would work, but I prefer Hulme casue he is completly unknown and I know he can act and look the role.

Hmm, selective attention much?

Gylenhaal as Dent does bother me. Then again it is a rumor...something that should be taken lightly.

I can imagine Gylenhaal in another role....

I can't believe so many people voted for Crispin Glover. You know what will cure each of them who voted that way? Rent *My Tutor*. That will Crispin each of them out.

I mean, that's about up there with voting for Graham Norton for the role.

That poll was done before the release of BB.

That "Batman lunch break" news item can fertilise my lawn, it's so full of it...

No he hasn't actually. I saw him in Wedding Crashers also, he was pretty decent. I never thought of him as Joker, until now.

Actually, Bradley Cooper has been mentionned...

... then again, who hasen't?

He has been mentioned a few times, and personally, I think he's a very good choice for the role.. He played a smiling, mean villain in Wedding Crashers. Sure, not an enormously serious role, but he showed potential for bigger parts. He's got crazy eyes, a big smile, and a decent laugh.

I could see it.

Never saw them, but I agree with what you said. He definitely has potential.

while i agree that gylenhaal isn't right for the role of dent, i do think he's an excellent actor, he's just too young for the role. trust me, he's an amazing actor. just watch donnie darko or moonlight mile if you don't believe me. he's done a lot great movies other than brokeback mountain.

Cooper is a darn good choice.. He completely slipped my mind..

This was on BOF today. I only included the parts people have been talking about.

Sequel Rumors Galore!

Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 1:07 PM CENTRAL TIME: Keep in mind that BOF does report rumor -- but rumor that has been looked into and comes from legit sources. Got some of that for you today, but please take with a grain of salt until I tell you to set it in stone. When I do the latter, go buy the hammer, chisel, and marble. OK, here goes…

No Harley Quinn, but Dr. Harleen Quinzel could be employed by Arkham Asylum. I was told the name of the potential actress (she's British and in her late 30s), but I’ll hold off right now…

It is really looking like Mr. Bettany will be Mr. J…

Don’t expect a “Nicholson-ized” Joker -- not in terms of how The Joker looks, acts, or is motivation. This will be something totally different, but true to the spirit of the character. His white skin will be natural (read: he doesn't wear white make-up), while the rest of his “Joker look” necessarily may not…

Jake Gyllenhaal as Dent -- where there is smoke, there’s fire. I’ll put it like that…

Jarhead showed me he's got the chops for it.

British, late 30s Harley? No idea...

I gotta say, I worry about Bettany as Joker. Can he drop the accent, pick up a creepy Joker voice including the laugh, and be convincing? He can be a great British villain? But an American one whose voice is so important? He might be able to do it, but I haven't seen it from him yet.

Plus, he's playing an albino killer in The Da Vinci Code.. Isn't one uber-white villain enough for a career?

Naomi Watts pops up into my mind. Only a guess, or maybe Kate Winslet.

Kind of big names for what I assume is a small, supporting role.

Watts is Australian, I think. Elizabeth Hurley comes to mind. Minnie Driver.. Piper Perabo isn't British, but she's in Nolan's The Prestige, and seems like a good candidate..
