Nobody's seen him act in a decent role and those who have were very underwhelmed. Guy hasn't proven any talent yet, but everyone idolises him (no, a small voice role in a video game does not count). Does not look a whole lot like the Joker. Bottom line, Batman 2 deserves a better choice. Look at the Begins cast and imagine a Lachy Hulme in there. Sad, really.

Watch Let's Get Skase. He looks scarily like the Joker to me. He is in the same age range as Bale...which I think is needed. And nobody's seen him act in a decent role? You feel the same way about Routh playing Superman? He hasn't done jack and I think he will be great in the role.

It's Dafoe or Weaving for me. And anyone who doubts Weaving can deliver a performance without delving into campy villainy should watch PROOF or THE INTERVIEW.

Yea after watching Sin City and I Think Del Toro would make an Awesome Joker. But I think he would make a Better 2face then the joker imo. For some reason everytime I see him smile, he looks like Brad Pitt :o

I think he'd make a fine Harvey, but not Joker. The Joker should have a more angular face with a more hawkish nose.

This isn't specifically about Del Toro, but I really don't like how people always come up with "use make-up or prosthetics" for people who don't look an inch like the Joker to change them into the Joker.

I mean, yeah the actor who will ultimately play him might have SOME prosthetic make-up applied, just like Nicholson, but also like Nicholson, I'd like to be able to distinguish a recognisable human face behind any make-up.

I don't want to be staring at a malleable face-mask. It should be the actor playing him, who is able to use the full range of facial expressions. No huge chin, cheek stuffing and disproportionate nose jobs. Very subtle enhancements, yes. But the actor should look like him to some extent before any make-up comes on.

As for Benicio Del Toro, there is nothing wrong with that choice, but he's not a favorite of mine. I think other people are better suited, definitely in looks and character-wise.

I don't think he would make a good Joker at all...
Unlike what some of you said earlier, he's NOT good for the part physically.

The Joker should be tall and SKINNY... Del Toro is quite tall ( I heard 6' 4'' ), but he's just not the kinda guy that can be skinny... it just doesn't seem to go well with his face.

Speaking of face, his doesn't scream 'Joker' to me at all... there's too much of a sad, old look in his stare, even in Sin City. Plus, I think he's mexican or something? It doesn't seem to fit the Joker ( I think he needs to be American looking or something... if that means anything )

Confused and Angry, huh?

I think you're thinking about the small .034% of the viewers that are mentally handicapped.

I say that unknown actors should be given a chance, I thought that lots of people doubted Christian Bale when he was first announced.

Bale was by far the fan favorite and even if he wasn't, Bale has a large and impressive body of work behind him.

Lachy Hulme is nobody. I haven't seen that Skase movie, but from people who've seen it that I trust I hear it's pretty awful. Until Hulme proves himself in a decent role, I'm saying no.

Age range is a minor point to me. The actor playing the Joker could be any age from 30 to 45. That is still young by today's standards.

As for Routh, I've never seen him in anything either. And that does indeed make make me weary of him in the role of Superman. The BIG difference between Routh and Hulme is that Routh was apprantly good enough to convince Bryan Singer. That doesn't pull me completely in the Routh camp, I still have major reservations, but it at least gives me some indication that he's suited for the role. The moment Christopher Nolan casts Hulme, I'll start taking him seriously in consideration. Until then (and that might be never), I'm not supporting the guy.

ONly if Johnny Depp plays the Riddler and they do a lot of Mescaline and uppers and downers and the like. Plus can't you hear Depp say.

I'm gonna throw another name into the bag. How about Steve Carrell for The Joker. He's tall, and he's thin. He could play the pre Red Hood struggling comic role good and he's look good in the make up. He's funny, yet he can be a very dramatic actor. He now stars on "The Office (US)"

Here are some pics:

He's not that thin and according to imdb is actually pretty damn short (5'8").

That and he doesn't really have the sense of evil that the Joker should have. Yeah the guy is funny, but he comes off more as a doofus or idiot than a sadistic bastard.

Yeah, he's definitely not the right type.

What's he been in that was serious? I'm curious, cause I think he's hilarious. I don't know about the Joker, though.

I saw this guy on Revelations. He plays Satanic Cult leader Isaiah Haden, he murdered a little girl on the show. He's not a pretty actor, not a leading man. But who said The Joker had to be some Jude Law type? I think he's a great choice. I suggest you watch Revelations tonight to see his acting skills.

He's crazy as **** and he's my new second choice for The Joker, behind Tim Roth. ;)

You got 5 or 6 threads on the same thing with different actors for Joker

Why don't you keep them in one thread :) :batman:
