Crispin Glover and Paul Bettany are really talented actors, so I have no problem if either of them gets it. Lachy Hulme sounds like he's a pretty good actor.

as much as i love back to the future, crispin glover is quite the ****ty actor

I'm personally afraid that all this Nicholson comparison talk is going to hurt the sequel when it comes out particularly with reviews by critics, but hopefully that wont become a factor. I don't need a joker that is as over the top as Jack Nicholson (who was damn good IMO) but i want this next Joker to be the scariest, creepiest most sadistic MoFo that ever walked the earth. I mean that's how he should be, he's a friggin maniac!! He's got to be atleast as creepy as IT from the Stephen King novel

I'm with you. As far as we know, he has already killed two people.
I hope Joker is to BB2 as Buffalo Bill was to Silence of the Lambs.

Bettany is a candidate now? Cool. If him or Glover got it I'd be really happy.

Bettany is playing some creepy Albino character in the Da Vinci code, I think. That'll probably get him a lot more Joker-cred, and hopefully the role isn't too similar. Bettany has a great look for the character, no doubt.

Really never liked Hulme as a choice.

Bettany, damn it. Him as Joker would make up for him not being John Constantine.

I really like the idea of Bettany as Joker. He may not look like the comic Joker as much as Crispin Glover but I know he's a great actor and can play menacing and creepy well. Crispin is just plain creepy to me. My vote goes to Bettany.

I think Glover would stand up to comparisons against Nicholson the best out of the 3, uncanny physical resemblance goes along way to ensure success when depicting a comic book character. Glover does one thing well and thats creepy.

Bethany? too brit imho, the other dood? why is he even in the running?

Looks like Glover has experience playing the type, unlike Bethany. Has he played evil creepy before? Right now it's like comparing CR and Robert Redford for the role of Superman, no contest.

Got a new name to add into the mix for The Joker in the BATMAN BEGINS sequel: Paul Bettany. Bettany joins Lachy Hulme and Crispin Glover in the mix to play The Crown Prince of Crime. The same source who passed along Bettany's name informed us that there is "no truth" behind Mark Hamill being up for the role. He also told us that Mr. Hamill is "a little old" for this new take on The Joker. Mr. Hamill is in his mid-fifties I believe. I'm digging into more sequel rumors, so stay tuned....

He's got the chin, eyes, cheek bones and hair for the part. He can do movie fights well too boot. Passing up on him would be like passing on CR for Superman in 78. Crispin is a creepy bastard, who's seperated from birth. I bet his birth certificate read Joe Kerr.

How could anyone see Crispin Glover's performance in Willard as anything like Joker.. Joker is such a better character and nothing Glover did reminded me of Joker at all... He barely looks like a Joker type, IMO. Someone like Hulme has the right look and I heard he does really good theater work, so hey if you can do real acting well than film will be easy for him. He could pull it off!

that's my pt though. it wouldn't be a stretch. people are choosing him because he looks like Joker and has behaved like Joker in past films. that's not acting and not helpful for casting a movie like this. if there's no difference between JOker and Crispin then all people are going to see on the screen is Crispin.
