^^^"Batman, you'll be dead in 2 days n I get my pentings back"
This dude was great in Ocean's 12, but I want Roth or Glover.

Ok, I have been pulling for glover and brody up to this point, but I want to add a new name to the list, How about Ben Foster?

He played Spacker Dave in the Punisher, but before you shoot me down, you got to check him out in Hostage, I just rented it and saw him, he plays a really awesome psycho in that movie, I think that he would put up an excellent performance as the joker, as opposed to bales batman.

Hi guys,

I've read the forum post here a lot but since this subject is dear to me, I've decided to register and post my two cents:

Anyhow,

I think most of these picks were chosen either just because of looks, or (mostly not and) acting ability (often just acting ability and not acting compatibilty, which I feel is MOST important).

Look first off, whoever's going to play Joker will be undoubtely compared with the beloved rendition played by hollywood favorite Jack Nicholson. I think performance and compatibility with the true nature of Joker will be PARAMOUNT in the success of not only the part itself but even almost to the point where it will sway opinions of the movie itself.

The only choice I see here (IMHO) that really capture both the essence of the Joker and his looks is Willem Dafoe. I like Crispin Glover appearence wise, but really if you seriously think about how he acts, the joker will be more of a semi-menacing one dimensional side-kick villain... I seriously doubt Glover can deliver the kind of performance that would send the revived batman franchise to the next level... Lachy Hulme? cmon guys... I'll give you the nose and maybe the eyes... but as far as acting ability... nah... jude law? nope, not the joker type (maybe the riddler), hugo weaving? cmon, imagine him trying to act the comic fanatical side of joker (consistently talks too slow and deep). The rest of the candidates seem to just be either look-a-likes or acting powerhouses that just don't match THE JOKER persona.

Willem Dafoe, though in the back of my mind I feel wont be chosen because of his affiliation with spiderman, is the best of those mentioned so far. Actually, I thought he was off for the green goblin and thought then that he'd make a great joker. He has the voice, the grin, the great (and compatible) acting versatility, matching physicality and unlike Jack (this is an advantage) he wont overpower the part and draw all the attention.

As a fan of the new franchise, I like the fact that Nolan isn't killing off or checking off villians the way the past four films did... We see a possiblity for a return of the Scarecrow (which I think was played successfully by Cillian Murphy), and very possibly multiple appearences by the joker in the sequels. I like all of you want to see this franchise kick ass...

My pick is for Dafoe.

Don't know if anyone posted this, but aparently we have a new name in the mix for the Joker...

"Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 6:33 AM CST: Got a new name to add into the mix for The Joker in the BATMAN BEGINS sequel: Paul Bettany. Bettany joins Lachy Hulme and Crispin Glover in the mix to play The Crown Prince of Crime. The same source who passed along Bettany's name informed us that there is "no truth" behind Mark Hamill being up for the role. He also told us that Mr. Hamill is "a little old" for this new take on The Joker. Mr. Hamill is in his mid-fifties I believe."

I checked out a picture of bettany. Imo he does not look much like the Joker. It is the acting that is important mind, but there's a guy who has both qualities. Christopher Eccleston! VOTE CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON if you want a truly insane, funny and terryifying incarnation of The Joker in the sequel to Batman Begins!

there would be three Chris's lol it could get confusing.lol Chris Nolan Chris Bale and Chris slater! Slater would do good as the Joker as well!! the battle of the Christians, what a metaphor.lol

Well how about saying that in the Joker casting thread??? Really dude, your not making any friends doing this.

lol, awwwwwww how sweet. Although due to this thread being merged, looks like I was right.

Crispin Glover and Paul Bettany are really talented actors, so I have no problem if either of them gets it. Lachy Hulme sounds like he's a pretty good actor.

lol weadazoid at least sean is a big name!

Hey man I came up with Penn for Joker a long time ago, mainly cause he would be big nenough and different enough that comparison to Jacks Joker would be senesless.

He would give us a character driven freak, not an over acting monstrous caricature of character that already is a big chricature of pyschopaths.

"monstrous caricature of character that already is a big chricature of pyschopaths."

now THATS a mouthful!

Peter Sarsgaard Dammit! But im fine with Glover(mostly because he looks like a creep, I don't know about his acting) or Bettany
